Hi all.
Here's something worth reading.  From the journal Gut [sic].  Another
reason not to drink of yo liver bad, but at least it don't seem to promote
viral replication. This constant background noise sure is annoying.  I know
how you feel, Daylight.

Thinking of you all

Gut. 2005 Oct;54(10):1468-72.

Alcohol has no effect on hepatitis C virus replication: a meta-analysis.

Anand BS, Thornby J.

Digestive Diseases Section (111D), VA Medical Center, 2002 Holcombe
Blvd.,
Houston, TX 77030, USA. ana0@flash.net.

BACKGROUND: Patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection who
consume
large quantities of alcohol have more severe liver disease compared with
HCV
patients without a history of alcohol consumption. The mechanism by which
alcohol worsens HCV related liver disease is not properly understood. One
possibility is that alcohol stimulates HCV replication, and the present
meta-analysis was performed to examine this issue....
...CONCLUSIONS: The present study has failed to show an association
between alcohol use and HCV viral titres. These observations raise the
possibility that the hepatic damage caused
by alcohol and HCV may be purely additive, involving different mechanisms
and
pathways.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I gotta million questions about this, but none of them have to do with
alcohol or hep.  I'll put it this way...if this is a typical VA
meta-analysis, I'd hate to see the analyses!

It sorta reminds me of the funded study that discovered that there can be
serious quality of life issues for those with hepc.  And even more
amazingly, they can be more extreme for nonresponders than responders.

Maybe the UN should fund a study to discover whether it's worse for livers
to drink a twelve pack of beer or 5 shots of tequila three times a week
outside of the 18th parallel.

Hep C aside, drinking has never proven to be a very positive thing to do
unless it's in very limited quantities.

What if I was to tell you there was a group of people (a cult) down
the block that gets together all the time and injects little bits of
cyanide for kicks.  What would you think of this cult?  Would you say
they are a bunch of sick bastards?

Well, what if I told you some of them drink the cyanide instead of
injecting it.  Would that change the way you think of this cult?

Well, what if I told you they drank another lethal poison instead of
cyanide.  Would that change the way you think of this cult?

And when I tell you that the replacement for the cyanide was ethyl
alcohol.  And it's pushed and promoted throughout this culture and
society.  Would that change the way you feel about this cult?

It shouldn't.  This culture is sick.  And anyone who purposely poisons
his own body for kicks, is a fool.  And these are the people in charge
of everything in this society (or cult in this case).  And the piper
WILL be paid.  But justice never happens fast enough for the
innocents.

Immigrant Song

     Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
>from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods
Will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying:
Valhalla, I am coming!
On we sweep with threshing oar,
Our only goal will be the western shore.
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
>from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
How soft your fields so green,
Can whisper tales of gore,
Of how we calmed the tides of war.
We are your overlords.
On we sweep with threshing oar,
Our only goal will be the western shore.
So now you’d better stop and rebuild all your ruins,
For peace and trust can win the day
Despite of all your losing.

Anyone who doubts that I am the son of Nemesis is obviously an infidel
lacking in faith whose soul is in peril of everlasting damnation.

Nemesis, winged balancer of life,
dark-faced Goddess, daughter of Justice,
You who restrain with adamantine bridles
the frivolous insolences of mortals,
and spurning the destructive violence of mankind
drive out black envy!

Beneath Your unceasing, traceless orbit
is spun the grey fortune of man
and unnoticed You walk in his tracks,
you bend the neck that is proud.
Beneath Your arm You ever measure out life
and ever do You lower Your eye to Your bosom
as You control the scales in Your hand.

Be gracious, blessed dealer of justice,
Nemesis, winged balancer of life.
Nemesis the deathless Goddess we sing,
Victory with slender wings, all-powerful
infallible, and the assistant to Justice,
You who in displeasure at the pride of men
carry it down into Tartarus.

Normally I don't waste my precious time arguing with fools.  But when
they attack the newspaper boy because they don't like the news, I'll
destroy them.  Even if they are some cartoon character "son of
nemesis".

I was offering the best defense a man can have against ignorance.
THE TRUTH.  And you called me a "monkey boy lawyer".  You better think
again what it means to be human.

And why you quoted a drunken poets laments (led zeppelin), I'll never
know.  They (by their own admissions) drank way too much.  Ripped off
people at concerts by being too drunk to even play worth a sh.t.  Then
trashed hotels and such.  Wasting moneys that could have been used
constructively.  Thousands of children a day die of starvation.  And
they waste moneys that way.  But helping other people was never their
goal, was it?

And the faith comment makes me chuckle.  I have faith in the truth and
myself.  I don't give a flying f.ck what anyone or even everyone else
thinks.  If I stand alone, so be it.  I will not be punked by deceit.

But I don't live a fictitious world where I'm some sort of cartoon
character.  And I don't attack people who are trying to inform people
of the truth when the truth shines a light on an ugly f.cked-up side
of myself.  But I guess we are all different.  And that what makes the
world an interesting place.  But when you stand up against the truth,
and help spread darkness and ignorance, you stand up for evil.  And I
WILL DESTROY EVEN CARTOON CHARACTERS without a second thought.

Have a nice day with your drinking buddies, Alan.  Or do you own stock
in these companies that prosper off other peoples misery?  What's
ironic is people drink the poison to escape the misery of their lives.
But it doesn't help at all and makes for even more serious misery.

ps.  You should listen to Plant's later offerings.  Like "Ship Of
Fools".  Not the stuff when he was young, foolish and naive. Everybody
knows how to be those things.  It's innately human.

Not weird for weirdos, some other group would fire up snake venom for
fun!!! and rave about a particular poisonous type, I guess he really
liked certain snakes venoms more from others.  Sounds like a freak from
a swamp.
