Urination problems

Hi all,

I found nothing in a search of subjects here, so I thought I'd ask. One of
the problems of being on Peg-Interferon + Rebetol is that you're never
sure what are side effects (there are so many to choose from) and what
symptoms may be unrelated and need consultations with other doctors.

I wanted to ask here if anyone has heard of non-prostate related
slow urination. There is a word about this in one of the drug notices
(Rebetol I think) but what bad symptom *isn't* mentioned in that
literature? :) My doctor says he hasn't heard of this being a common side
effect, but he did check my prostate and said it was not enlarged at all.
I don't have any pain, but I do have a weaker stream. I have to
consciously relax to make it "work right" and I won't be in any "pissing
contests" soon.

I'm told (and have read) that this can be caused by prostate problems
(BPH, cancer, prostatitis) or by loss of bladder strength. I think it has
something to do with constriction of the passage because it effects
ejaculation as well. I will be seeing a urologist soon, but thought I'd
ask anyway.

Well, I've had the slow urination problem frequently while on therapy (not a
lot of fun considering how much extra water I need to drink every day) and my
last physical (roughly 3 months prior to starting therapy) showed no
noticeable prostate enlargement, and an excellent PSA. So it'd be easy to hook
the slow urination to the therapy, but to be honest, at my age slow urination
is hardly unusual, so I await end of tx to see if this symptom eases.

As for the ejaculation issues, this has been a non-issue, as therapy has
totally taken the starch out of the ol' Prime Unit.

I've sent it down to the farm club for a rehab assignment.
Hopefully it'd come back tanned, rested, and ready ;-)

Cheers!

Great answer, and oh so true.

Wow, I guess I'm "lucky". The depression is strong enough sometimes and
the desire is weak, but with some insisting from my partner (she's a
patient woman, bless her) I can perform except it's way less intense at
the climax.

thanks for your comments on the other. While I'm guessing this is part of
the side effets, I'm worried it's not. I'd like to wait 6 months for the
tx to end, but it may not be wise.

Many of my side effects were psychological and I remember at times
having what I thought was sort of a weird form of pee-shyness.  I had
forgotten about it until I read:

which is pretty much exactly how I got around it.

You may want to see a nephrologist (sp). A kidney doctor in other words.
