Hello,

Does anyone have exoereince with or knowledge of treating chronic
hepatitis C with a medicine called PK Mertz? The doctors have
prescribed it to a friend who lives in Europe and was a nonresponder to
interferon. Do you know if it is effective, whether it has side
effects, whether it is normal to use it for hepatits c treatment or any
thing else about it that might be useful?

Thanks,

P

aka "Amantadine Hydrochloride", an anti-viral agent that has been shown in a
few trials to provide limited benefit on its own (I don't believe anyone has
achieved a documented SVR on Amantadine alone) but has incremental benefit wrt
ITT SVR rates when combined with Peg-IFN and Ribavirin.

Google Amantadine and you'll have plenty of reference documents to review...

I used Amantadine in my third and successful round of tx, along with
Infergen, Pegasys and ribavirin.

Well, Elmo, you would be included in the "incremental benefit" ;-)
except you screwed up any retrospective study value by adding in the daily
Infergen on that third round....No way to know which did the trick...but I
have my suspicions, and either way, you won't lose any sleep over it now ;-)

personally I think it was her whiney voice, and the way she treated Fred.
