JV - 26 Jul 2005 18:39 GMT Hey John how about a update on how your feeling off tx? Hope there is some good news to report. Juanita
Red Dwarf - 27 Jul 2005 11:24 GMT Hi Juanita, nice of you to ask. I wish I had something more positive to post, but the truth is, as I've said before,HCV and TX are not all I have to deal with. I shall not bore all with the details, suffice it to say that everyday is filled with pain.Actual physical pain, not the kind of pain one feels with the break-up of a lover.I do in fact feel as though I'm fighting a losing battle. For some stupid reason, goodness knows why,I keep on keeping on, but to where and for what I do not know. The very minute anything halfway good or positive happens I shall communicate it. Thanks again for asking. John

JV - 27 Jul 2005 15:00 GMT Hay John You mentioned some warm places to swim up at Tahoe exactly where are they?. Tahoe has been having highs of only 80 a place I can adventure to as I am sick of the heat down here. Tahoe is 1/12 hours away and a warmer spot to swim would be a nice spot to swim its generaly quite a cool lake just as you said, do tell which shore is warm? Juanita
Red Dwarf - 27 Jul 2005 15:50 GMT Juanita, I kid you not. there are warm spots where it is so nice to swim in. i do not like cold water at all, but a few years ago at the behest of friends we came down from rt.80, toward the California side, there was a camp site we used, I'll have to look at a map to remember exactly where it is, but it does not get any better than this. I mean the water is so clear its incredible. It is about 1/3 of the way down from 80, sun...something or other. Really worth taking a look. We also rented boats there a couple of times, sweeeeet. I'll try to refresh my memory, but it's so late now that my brain is not functioning.Plus the meds... John

I have forgot until you mentioned it. Yes the water is warmer on that side. This one place had a ice cream shack which was great as laying in the shade and eating it was so nice. One thing it always cools off there by late afternoon. Now I remember. Juanita

Red Dwarf - 28 Jul 2005 13:28 GMT Yes J.V, even in some places in the middle of the lake there are warm places, but if you jump in, ya just gotta remember not to swim too far from your boat, or it's a hellofa long swim to the shore. I remember one time in a rented boat that on the way back we got caught in a thunder and lightning storm, and the kids were scared witless, as the storm was real close, too close. In the afternoon, squalls can come up seemingly out of nowhere. I miss it so. the food, the gambling. One interesting though, South Lake Tahoe/Stateline casinos are really safe compared to Reno. I know about 6 people who were robbed, 3 at gunpoint in Reno. One of them was a little old lady who won about $5,000.00, and apparently somebody followed her into the ladies room, and quietly stuck a gun in her ribs and took everything from her, and warned her not to report it or they would kill her. She did not report it. That was at the Calneva casino. You really have to be alert there, or you could be easily victimized. I never heard of anything like that happening in Tahoe casinos. All I'm saying is that when in Reno, be aware. John

JV - 28 Jul 2005 18:19 GMT Oh yes John Reno is still a disgusting place though they have torn down and rebuilt some beautiful casinos its still a grey dingy dusty creepy place, Its full of all the trash in the world wondering around outside hookers, drug dealers, and being robbed is a common occurrence. I never go to reno except to drive through. Lake Tahoe is beautiful still, Casinos are safe and there is endless security everywhere. I never liked Reno and last time I was there was in 2001, 1 day 1 nite and I left. Disgusting place thats for sure. Juanita
Cactus Jammies - 28 Jul 2005 19:41 GMT just connecting through the Reno airport was bad enough a trailer full of slots, basically. The Vegas airport is a fantasy compared, but you can still lose all you have at either without even going out the airport doors.

Juanita Red Dwarf - 29 Jul 2005 07:18 GMT I probably shouldn't say this, but on a trip to Reno/Sparks we stayed at John Asquagas Nugget, it was terrific. My stepson had just turned 17 and was quite shy around girls. When the rest of the family was occupied,we quietly slipped away and I brought him to the Mustang Ranch which was just a few blocks from there. I used my credit card and treated him. When all the girls lined up for his choosing he choked up, finally one was chosen for him(he didn't want to hurt anybody's feelings) I sat at the bar sipping drinks while waiting, and not too long later he came(sorry) back out with big smile on his face, and we quietly went back to the hotel/casino. It is standard for the girls to strip and thoroughly examine the customers bodies for any possible visible nasties, then you were required to use a bidet before and after. He said all of that was almost as much fun as the actual deed itself. It was a very interesting place with good security. We got along very well before that, but after that he thought I was a god.We never told his mother, and to this day I know she would strangle me if she found out. He never told, and neither did I. It's a little off topic, but what the hell. I'm a terrible person. The place is now owned by the IRS of all things. I know it has changed hands a few times. It had a world wide reputation. The boy is now in his mid-thirties, married and with a new baby, and he is making more money in the Silicon Valley that I ever did. He calls me regularly. I wonder if he is willing to return the favor....Nah, with my bad hip I probably would just embarrass myself. John
