Michael Arends - 25 Jul 2005 23:26 GMT
well, this week comes an adventure.  Tomorrow morning I'm leaving for
Reno, and will be driving there with a friend.  Leaving at 6:00am, ought
to get there around 6:00pm.

It should be fun, and I'll be flying back home, Friday morning, just in
time for me to take my Friday night TX trip.

Got the invite to go do a little water Skiing, Gambling, etc..
So, I will be also hitting Tahoe, and Virginia City.

Virginia City is a trip, and wishing I could take a drink (Beer), has
one of the ONLY, original old timey, wild western saloons STILL left,
The "Bucket of Blood", and it hasn't been ruined yet By OVER tourism.

It's not far from Boot Hit, where some of the old timey western cowboys
are buried.   And Mark Twains FIRST newspaper office is still there,
with his name on a plaque out front.

I'm hoping I can handle this,  The Temps are getting HOT, in Nevada this
time of year.

wish me luck....

Careful Michael, don't over do it.  Yes it is hot.  Wear a hat, drink
lots of water and confine activities to early morning and late in the
evening.  You'll be off tx soon enough, although I know you want to
live life, and then as you build strength, you can get back into the
swing of things.  Right now: Your job is to get better so take it easy
and KILL THE f.cking DRAGON!!!

Thanks Geb.  I WILL be taking it easy. it's mainly a *relax* time for
me, and who knows maybe I'll just ride the boat instead of water ski.

I am coming off of being very sick last week, but my energy seems to be
rebounding. It is the heat I'm a little leary of.  It seems to really
wipe me out, since I'm on TX.  So, YES I'll be drinking a LOT of water.

I couldn't pass this trip up, BUT, I'll be taking it VERY easy while there.

Ribavirin causes a dosage-dependent, hemolytic anemia, ribivirin and
interferon can suppress bone marrow production of red blood cells. This
results in anemia, likely in >20% of patients treated with a pegylated
interferon and ribavirin at 1,000-1,200 mg/day.  Anemia can be one of
the most clinically significant side effects of therapy.  Fatigue,
anemia and systemic inflammation and dehydration brought about by
therapy coupled with high tempretatures make the Hepper a candidate for
heat stroke.  CAREFUL!!!

Put on a life preserver and have em drag you behind the boat.  Forget
the water skis.  :-)

You're no dummy, I'm sure you'll not risk your a.s after the tx investment ;-)

I've been deeply circumspect about taking my boat out this year - not that I
couldn't handle an uneventful day on the water, but if something out of the
ordinary were to happen requiring stamina or strength to address (eg: someone
fall over-freakin'-board or an anchor snag in fast current, I'd be in trouble
(at least out one anchor ;-).

I've been thinking I should drag one of my boys home for a weekend to captain
for me, as right about now (been in the 90's the last week) a nice putt on a
cool lake would be fine.

Sunscreen and hydration are of course more important than ever.
Most important: always wear a PFD!

Cheers - and hope you have a great day!  It'll do major good stuff for your
psyche, I'm sure.

/greyhackles
ps: if your captain says "Watch this!" get your head down, quickly ;-)

Have fun Michael in Nevada, this week is on a cooling trend so your
gonna be ok. The old saloon is cool inside in Virginia city and yes its
a tripy town. Tahoe has been in the 80s and plesant on the water.. Last
week was the week you didnt want to be up there as Trucky was 94 but
this is rare. Hope you win the big one. Be safe and go for it, It will
do you good getting away from the same old thing which has not been fun
at all. Win win Win

Sorry Juanita but your are giving wrong advice.  Who cares if it is a
'tripy' town?  The best one can do on tx is take it easy and get as
much rest as possible.  FYI the priorities are get healthy then party.

Gee you sound depressing don't your think Michael should go enjoy
himself once on tx. The advice is good  he didn't object and he cares
what kind of town it is or He would have not mentioned it at all.. Some
live with their heads buried in the sand on tx and some do NOT and work
on trying to do something different to take their minds off tx. Your a
downer big time. It is important here to be suportive and up lifting for
those who are on tx and I don't see you doing that. being negative when
he is looking foreward to going. I'm not telling him to drink and that
would be the only bad thing he could do up there its a beautiful place
and heaven on earth. A change of scenery is always good whether you like
it or not.  He is a adult and knows his limits as all of us do on tx.

Have fun Michael Virginia city is a tripy old place and hope you enjoy
every minute of the high sierra you deserve some happiness before shot
day..

Coming from a drunk like yourself its obvious you couldn't wait to hit
the bottle again. Go piss off a cliff but next time be more private
about it..To go through tx, get healthy and then party, I don't think
so..thats very back a.s wards indeed. Sorry but that is really bad
advise, when people become clean they don't need encouragement to return
to their old ways from a alch. Take your drunkenness some where else
like to AA and get well. Alcohol is evil and so is drinking around drunk
and making women cart your a.s about cause your to sh.t faced and cant
drive..

The road to Berkley Springs winds through the Appalachian Mountains
overlooking the Shenandoah Valley.
The view is stupendous.
¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬
Who cares if the view is stupendous.

Who cares if the town is tripy.

You certainly dont why should I.

Do you like condescending remarks? when describing beautiful places to
others?
Your just had to rock the boat didn't you, couldn't just let me be
happy, live and let live. I never did nothing to you quit stalking me
and shut up cause the Sierra Nevada is my world and home and you know
nothing about it. Go pick on someone your own size, probably cause he
would chop you up.. I'm not doing well these days and picking on me is
about as low as a man can get. You get your kicks an thrills an walk
away taken a stab for no reason at all. Very big of you Jab I mean Gib.
Your a wuss and just a mean old man taking advantage of what ever you
can to whom ever you can, life is not a joke and I don't find you funny
in the least. Your a shallow person and really don't read much in here
or know what is going on. You have made yourself quite tire some with
disappointment an negativity you also suffer from the I disease as in
self centered.  Leave me alone. Your heartless.

Sorry Juanita.  I didn't mean to put a bee in your bonnett.  But I do
like you when you get mad like that.  When I was on tx I bit off more
than I could chew physically and it liked to put me down.  If it wasn't
so damn hot out I wouldn't have jumprd in like I did to make a point.
It's downright dangerous out there.  FYI it's 68F in Vancouver!
JV - 27 Jul 2005 04:33 GMT
Hi Geb sorry I am such a a.s. These thyroid meds are horrid and I been
sicker this year than when I was on tx. I guess we all have our good
days and bad days.
Normally I don't get bees in my bonnet but this time it was a wasp, 2
bees and 1 hornet and then the hive.
It has been hot as hell in triple digits for this area, its really
different, and never have seen a summer this hot here in over 20 years,
it rained through June and then zapo. Normally its high 80s low 90s. Its
global warming for sure. I heard east coast waters are 10 degrees above
normal. The sun is also in a different place since the big quake in
december last year. Thank you for being so understanding with my temper
tantrum. I don't like myself when I get like that and I am going to take
valium and get some weed and take both when my dose gets raised in 2
weeks apparently lack of weed dose makes a difference. I haven't smoked
any for weeks as I wanted to see what my thyroid meds were doing well I
found out and I am not impressed. I was really peaking yesterday and
today they have soaked in and not so shaky. gee wiz 68 sounds nice for
this time of nite. It made it down to 80 by 8pm. take care Gib

wear your woolies

ha ha ha
its a temperate rain forest just like frisco and up along the pacific coast
highway.  do you want that in celcius? about 28* C I think, is a warm day.
But is consistent and not extreme, there where you live getting close to the
Nevada desert.  This is moderate, key word.  8-)  but bring your woolies
anyways if  you ever head north....ha ha ah easier for the authorities to
keep an eye oyna!

Woolies hmmmm different CJ, I am 2 hours from Reno, so the desert isn't
far but has been a desert here in Coloma and Cool Calif. Cool, I don't
know why they named it Cool. Its hot as hell. I generally thrive on hot
weather but this year I'm staying in. I just got back from the lab,
cortisol, B-12, folic acid and estrogen tests. I strongly feel that my
adrenals are low from wondering about hypo for so long. I get to go back
up to Georgetown at 4pm for the later cortisol test. Then off to the
most delicious Mex food in the County. Its a giant shredded beef tostada
for dinner to nite. Cant wait. yum yum yum   Juanita

I don't mean to butt in here Juanita but that whole story about Geb being

was not drunk or did not make me drive him around. He was the perfect

Holy ribarage, honey, CALM DOWN, rethink and give your drug-addled head a
shake. Geb is not a drunk and the posts from he and Mom about their visit
was a joke, as in, J. O. K. E. Joke. As in, ha ha, not serious.

You owe them both an apology, but that's okay because they're both really
great folks who understand the ups and downs of tx.

Take care, hope you're feeling better soon.

Hey Michael,I've been there many times, and still love the area. There are
actually places in lake Tahoe where the water isn't dick shrinking cold. Ya
just gotta know where. The only place I didn't like was Virginia City. Too
small, too crowded, parking sucked too. Whatever you do don't bother taking
a tour in the mine, when the tour guide turns off the lights, its the
darkest place you'll ever be. Put a quarter in the slots for me would you.
Have a great time.
