elmoemerson@webtv.net - 28 Jun 2005 01:20 GMT Three tomatos turning red, several ripe jalapenos and the blackberries are now a beautiful deep red. Fresh corn on the cob can be had next week and the Blues Brothers movie is on the boob tube. What more could a guy want? Well......I'd better think about that one some more, but I sure do enjoy this time of year. Thunder and ligtning!!! Elmo

But I think treatment really does a number on taste buds..I found myself searching my tongue for some sort of evidence in regards to flavor and texture. lol hehe hee ...Oh, and tomatoes do badly in my yard.I think too much oak and pine around. But I've got a very nice patch of thyme that is flourishing better than ever in between the rocks on the patio...It is very nice to tickle my toes in. Critters got the better part of my strawberries this year. I didn't pay close enough attention. <hugs> Mary Ann

My NP (hehe) was wise enough to prescribe Mycolex troches.....within a week, I was back to stuffing hot peppers down the gullet. If your tongue hurts and stuff is burning, you might have thrush too. I'll have to grow some thyme next year so's I'll have a toe tickler too. <hugs two> elmo

Gordo Mondragon - 28 Jun 2005 12:58 GMT > .....I wish I could have spicy garden > jalepenos. We have one section of the back yard that gets full sun about 3/4 of the day and the combo of that with NY/NJ heat in the summer makes pepper plants really happy (as it does tomatoes). The jalapenos were the first to start producing an since you can use them at any time they showed up in our dinners pretty early.
> But I think treatment really does a number on taste buds..I > found myself searching my tongue for some sort of evidence in regards > to flavor and texture. lol hehe hee Mine was highly variable - there were times when a steak off the grill was the best possible things and other times I couldn't eat it. Ditto for spicy chiles and spicy greens, both of which I like a lot.
I would put 1/2 a jalapeno into a vat of tomato sauce and it would give just the right amount of glow....

kjoh - 28 Jun 2005 20:29 GMT And a glorius day here as well. My mood and the weather came around and I had the pleasure of tending our scruffy flower beds. In between yard naps. The ground in our north-sloping lot finally warmed up enough to lay in the grass.) We have 5 old, hardy apple trees with fruit that make magical juice. They are organic, not by design, but benign neglect. I anxiously await such a luxury this year. We can’t preserve them all, so we feed a crew of fat deer. No bears. But I know theyre not far. Hope none fall on me. Ha. Woodchucks almost got my strawberries. I picked them in the nick of time. It was neck-in-neck though. I had to do Sumo takedown on one of the furry buggers.
Question about a side effect: The whites of my eyes are unusually red, not itchy or painful though, responding slightly to antibiotics for conjunctivitis after about 10 days. Photosensitive. Are you others having this problem? My WBC is at 3, is a couple digits below the bottom end of the normal range. Will revisit my new pal the opthamalogist next week. He studied at Emory. Whats he doin way over here in Dodge, Montana, I wonder?
This spring when I had that early tx Thyroidthumping Cardiacpumping Ribahysteria I drove up and down our local country road photographing erosion and trespassing builders and managed to threaten and greatly embarrass some unethical developers and their various hyenas. Or little neighborhood now has 500 feet of new woven-wire field fence an the attention of a few city watchdogs. A small thing in the larger picture, but satisfying. Of course all concerned understand me to be a lunatic, henceforth.

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Russ - 29 Jun 2005 00:06 GMT > Photosensitive. Are you others > having this problem? A big 10-4 on that problem. My eye's were very sensitive to light and painful while on treatment, more so in the last 6 months. There were days I laid on the couch with a towel over my eyes for hours. The feeling of stepping out into the sunlight was like ice picks stabbing my eyes. Dark sunglasses were a must.
May I suggest you go to the local welding shop or hardware store and buy some shade #5 or #6 safety glasses for welding. About 10 bucks. They are very dark and worked nice.

elmoemerson@webtv.net - 29 Jun 2005 02:05 GMT Space helmets work well for that problem, Kathy. They have a stylish visor you can pop up and down at will. And in case you should fall down, they protect you from serious head injury. Don't spill the spaghetti. Elmo /////////// Re: A glorious day! Susie Quill - 30 Jun 2005 11:24 GMT It was a beautiful day here too. The flame trees are in full bloom finally. They usually fill out much sooner then this, but last years typhoon stripped them and they bloomed a second time....and set their blooming for this year back I guess.
The flame trees, as per their name, is a tree with bright orange to red blossoms. The hills are spackled with these beauties right now. The main beach road is over-hung with beautiful blossoms. The tree really doesn't belong here, but is so beautiful, that they have even named a festival after them. I believe they are from Madagascar.
I'm flying home next week to visit family in Texas and Nebraska. Going to take my camera and try to snap everything in bloom. Am excited about this trip. I'm going to be looking for fresh corn on the cob, and Nebraska steaks. Also, BBQ'ing in the back yard with a glass of black cherry wine. I haven't had but two or 3 glasses of anything since clearing and I'm still nervous about having a drink, but I think it is o.k. now to have one once in a while. At least, I will when we BBQ outside, sit on the porch and play with my grandkids and the dogs. Sweet Summer. Wishing everyone a SVR.
Susie.

Susie Quill - 30 Jun 2005 22:15 GMT Yup! Have a lay over to break the trip up a little. I couldn't believe Don Ho is still alive and working. I would have thought his liver would have been fried a long time ago.....and not from hep c either. When I saw his show 30 years or so ago, he was drinking like a fish then. Maybe it was part of the act. Susie.
