Elmo when you combined Infergen with Pegasys did you do both meds on your
Pegasys day?If not how did you work it out.
Thanks,

I did Infergen every day and Pegasys on Friday, but just for a couple of
weeks.  That was enough of that for me.  Daily Infergen before those two
weeks followed by 9 more months of just Pegasys.  Let's not forget the 7
caps of riba and 2 caps of Amantadine every day.  I went undetectabe on
both types of interferon about the same time I thought my eyeballs were
going to explode but I dropped back to just Pegasys when I collapsed in
the foyer at work.  Stupid...yes, viral load....no.  Some things are
priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Elmo.I will be doing the Pegasys tomorrow Morning(my last dose was
last Monday)and the Infergen before I go to bed.I'll do it for a couple of
weeks like you.Right now I'm only doing 1000mg's of Riba(my weight is
165)but I think that will change  to 1400 mg's tomorrow.At least for a
while. My doc won't give me the Amantadine.I've been back on the Infergen
since last Weds.Did you notice any more or worse rashes than during your
past TX's?I have much worse rashes than I had with any of my last 3 rounds
of TX.I do have the good old Diprolene cream. And it's the best I've ever
used.Clears up most rashes in a couple of days.

Thanks,
BrianD

Dang, Brian!  You may not be thanking me day after tomorrow, LOL.  When
I did that regimen,  I timed it so that those two weeks pounded me
undetectable.  What was good for me may not be good for you. If you
start going south, have the smarts enought to get checked out.
Discretion is the better part of valor.  I was 200 lbs when I did 7 caps
of riba, you might be wise to do less.  Anyway, I wish you the best.  If
you can get undetectable in a hurry, I'll bet you might whip the dragon.

The worst riba rash I had was during my second round of tx when I was
taking PegIntron and riba.  I had it all over and it drove me absolutely
nuts, my ankles were bloody and scarred from all the scratching.  I got
absolutely NO relief from any of the stuff they gave me to put on it.
Oddly enough, my riba rash wasn't quite as bad in round 3, even while
doing 2 more caps of riba.  (I"m getting itchy just thinking about it)
:-)
Is your doc planning to get a PCR and other labs in 2 weeks, perhaps get
a CBC next week?  You should begin to see a dramatic drop in viral load.
And you might very well see your hgb drop to a level you'll need a red
cell booster like Procrit.  My hgb dropped 5 points in the first two
weeks of doing Infergen by itself.
For a morale booster/buster, I'd recommend plotting your progress on a
graph.  Make the graph so that it has a time line across the bottom for
weeks starting with week one (base line) and vertical line for viral
load, 0 being at the bottom.  This will give you an excellent visual
tool to measure your progress.  The more frequent PCR's you get,
especially in the beginning, the more relevant your chart will be.  A
steep, downward line is what you're looking for, the steeper the better.
The graph will visually show you if you're getting the desired results.
Hopefully, your doc will want to see you on a weekly or semi-weekly
basis for the first month, if for nothing else but to monitor labs.
Does he/she hand you a lab slip that you take to an outside lab to be
drawn?  If so, that will give you a golden opportunity to make sure that
he/she ordered a PCR, LOL.  Check the block marked 'quantitative PCR' if
it wasn't already checked off and remember to shrug your shoulders like
you don't know how it got ordered if someone asks.  Don't keep checking
the block after you go 'undetectable', it'll be a waste of money.
By the way, is your doc wise to the fact that you're doing both types of
interferon at the same time?
I'm pulling for you big-time, Brian.  You've got large gonads,
obviously!
I want to hear how you're doing on a regular basis, bud!

I bear absolutely no responsibility for your doing both types of
interferon at the same time in case you should experience a severe
adverse event.  However, I'll accept as much of the credit as you're
willing to heap on me when you defeat the dragon.
ahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!
