Hello everyone,
I am a 45 year old male with cirrhosis, ascites, bleeding arteries in my
throat, enlarged liver and spleen, and a platelet count of 62-(up from 43
using God-given Maryjane). All this is from 25 years of hep-c G3 infection.
(Thank-you Uncle Sam!) All the Dr.s tell me "get a liver transplant or die".
They won't give me interferon because of my blood counts. Catch-22!
Recently I have been studying about the possibility of reversal of cirrhosis
using autologous stem cell therapy. In case you aren't familiar with this
stem cell jargon, autologous stem cells are your own cells extracted from
bone marrow, not from fetuses, etc.. Here's how it works:
1. the Drs. remove bone marrow from your hip
2. they seperate the stem cells from the marrow
3.a. the stem cells are reinjected into the blood using an I.V. where they
migrate to the liver, or
b. liver cells are removed and mixed with the stem cells and injected
directly into the liver.
When the stem cells start changing into liver cells and multiplying they
release some chemical that dissolves the cirrhotic tissue and replaces it
with new clean cells. Over a relatively short period of time, the liver
totally regenerates! In animal studies they report seeing repairs begin in 7
hours.
Unfortunately, I can't find a single Dr. or clinic that does this treatment
on humans. I have tried contacting various Drs. and Hospitals but the only
responses are from Internet rip-off artists who want many thousands of $ for
weird, questionable treatments.
Stem cell therapy has been used for cancer treatment for many years. But the
Medical Industry makes so much money off cancer they don't give a sh.t about
cirrhosis.
If anyone out there has ever heard of a legitimate Dr., anywhere in the
world, that can help me - please let me know!
My health continues to steadily decline, and if I'm not treated soon, my
sons will have to grow up without a Dad.
Good Luck and God Bless

May be you can convince a cancer hospital that performs this therapy for
cancer patients to try it on you.
You would probably have to sign a bunch of releases, but what do you have
to lose?
And what do they have to lose?
New procedures are tried out everyday.
It might give some doctor 15 minutes of fame if it works.
Good luck on your quest.

Perhaps you should listen to the Dr's advice you're already getting.
Time's a wasting!

You thought wrong. No, I didn't vote for George Bush. And one reason I
didn't vote for him is because of his stand on stem cell research. The
reason I suggested you listen to your docs is because they recommend a
liver transplant, which apparently is your only realistic option if you
wish to be around long enough to see your kids grow up.
