Yeah....When Johnny come lately comes marchin home...fist full of medals and
a G.I. loan, we'll be waitin down the station down in San Antoine, when
Johnny comes marchin home. With  a couple purple hearts so he moves a little
slow....

Take a litle time today to remember the women and men that went off to
protect our freedom and give others the chance to enjoy that freedom also.
My old man fought in the 2nd world war and just like today, he was in the
reserves when he was called back to fight in Korea. He was a pisser and a
drinker and although I didn't want the same, I ended up doing 2 tours on the
DMZ between north and south Korea, enjoying the freedom the south koreans
had, becoming a pisser and drinker, given in kind by the old mans
generation. He brought back 1 purple heart from WW2 and 2 from Korea, I
never saw them till a week after he died as I was sorting his drawers. I
brought back an "Arcom", "army accomadation medal" for pulling a family out
of a burning hooch. Hope to go back to Tokari some day and see if there OK.

Since my time in the service, of you all, I have never had an "on site"
boss. Thats what I learned from the Army, the same thing our fore fathers
fought for, INDEPENDANCE. I'm rewarded today by gifts the Veterans Admin.
provides me with, championed by our congressman here in VT, the only
Socialist in congress, Bernie Sanders. What a place to live in, CHOICE, and
although I had a haircut and a uniform when I was in, I was still "Every Day
People".

When you see that guy in a wheel chair with a sign that says "Help this vet
find his way home", buy him a sandwhich, or a bottle of wine. He' or she has
done more for us than any politician, reigious leader, and for that one
moment when they had to choose to fight or run, maybe even God.

A quick qoute from John Lennon......"Peace Brothers"

UNIVERSAL SOLDIER
Buffy Sainte-Marie
© Caleb Music-ASCAP

He's five feet two and he's six feet four
He fights with missiles and with spears
   He's all of 31 and he's only 17
He's been a soldier for a thousand years

   He's a Catholic, a Hindu, an athiest, a Jain,
a Buddhist and a Baptist and a Jew
and he knows he shouldn't kill
and he knows he always will
kill you for me my friend and me for you

   And he's fighting for Canada,
   he's fighting for France,
   he's fighting for the USA,
and he's fighting for the Russians
   and he's fighting for Japan,
and he thinks we'll put an end to war this way

   And he's fighting for Democracy
   and fighting for the Reds
He says it's for the peace of all
He's the one who must decide
who's to live and who's to die
and he never sees the writing on the walls

But without him how would Hitler have
   condemned him at Dachau
Without him Caesar would have stood alone
He's the one who gives his body
as a weapon to a war
and without him all this killing can't go on

He's the universal soldier and he
   really is to blame
His orders come from far away no more
They come from him, and you, and me
   and brothers can't you see
this is not the way we put an end to war.

LOL! Protect your freedom? You mean protect the freedom of multinationals to
continue to rape the land. Going to war for peace is an oxymoron. Fighting
for freedom is an oxymoron. The ONLY way to fix this world is for everyone
to change, not for some lame idiot like you to go KILL someone and come back
home without any legs.

Irony meter

From what I've seen over the last year and a half, you've shown absolutely
*no* interest in *any* on-topic discussion, and instead take every opportunity
to cause angst and aggravation.

Your core competency is inflicting pain.
What's up with that, anyway?

Clue: Nobody gets out of this life alive. And there are no "Do-Overs"...

Farts, turds and "you go, girl" are not my favorite subjects, it's true,
which is what most of the posts here are about nowadays. "Here's to the
Vets!!!!" isn't exactly on topic but I don't see you taking that poster to
task. Good Old Boy syndrome?

> and instead take every opportunity
> to cause angst and aggravation.

Your opinion. Can you back it up?

> Your core competency is inflicting pain.

On whom have I inflicted pain?

> What's up with that, anyway?

You got me. I don't know what you're talking about.

> Clue: Nobody gets out of this life alive.

Really? How do you know?

> And there are no "Do-Overs"...

More like having to take the course over again cause you didn't pass it the
first time. The problem is, the next time you may get a chance as a
cockroach instead of a human so what you do this lifetime is very important.
And, as the people who frequent this board are a tad more conscious of their
mortality than most, is it really off topic?

> /greyhackles

Einstein proved that nothing in this universe can be created or destroyed,
only the form can change. Shakyamuni Buddha knew this 3000 years ago.

Alias when I was in the hospital school when I was a kid some of the other
older kids use to bully me and beat me up whenever they got a chance after
about two years of getting beat up and tormented almost incessently
something inside me changed and I fought back I became ruhless and soon I
was making my daily rounds beating the crap out of my once tormenters.
Alias you are mean.  You remind me of those bullys.  You think you and
you're buddha bullshit are better than everyone else....better than people
who had a principle and gave their lives defending them.  You would not be
allowed  to say the thing you do if it were not for them and you piss on
their sacrifices...you fool...It would be delightful and fun to beat the
crap out of you.  and I would do it daily and have a ball each time....

And some things never change.  :-)  Alias was stirring the
pot back when I was posting regularly too.  Funny...back
then he used to rile me up..now I just feel sad for him.
Must have been the meds that prevented me from recognizing
how lonely his life must be.  Anyone who spends as much time
as he does spouting anti everything bs in a support group
must not have a lot going on in their lives.  Maybe he uses
this place to vent the opinions he has to suppress in public
in order to be politically correct.  In which case...the group
is also his support <g>.  I know it's difficult to do when the
riba is fogging your mind and the interferon has you on edge
but don't let this one lonely sad person wreck even a minute
of time you have on this earth.  Most of us out here know
that nothing worthwhile comes without sacrifice and that you
and others like you made that sacrifice so folks like him
could post their own opinions without fearing the consequences...
at least without fearing the consequence of man.  Karma...she's
not all that forgiving.

Hugs...and again...thanks

No need for you to feel anything. Just lie and say I live in a garbage bin,
pick up a few turds and throw them at me like your buddies do.

> Must have been the meds that prevented me from recognizing

I'm not lonely at all. I am very happy with my life, something you know
*nothing* about.

>  Anyone who spends as much time
> as he does spouting anti everything bs in a support group

I am anti war.

I am anti killing

I am anti militaries.

I am anti multinational corporations that rape the land.

I am anti religious leaders that mislead people into thinking some god can
save them.

I am for peace.

I am for life.

I am for search and rescue.

Am for small businesses.

I am for a true religion that really helps people, not promise them
salvation after they die.

 Maybe he uses
> this place to vent the opinions he has to suppress in public

Maybe you misunderstand my motivation and therefore misunderstand what I
say.

My support is the LAW. Following the Person is almost as foolish as
following a non existent god.

What makes you think I am sad and lonely?

Again, war does not lead to peace. Even after all those sacrifices, there
are more wars than before, more people being killed than before. What
freedom?

She? Karma is not a person. It is cause and effect.

You're thanking him because he said:

Why did you thank him for that?

Thanks for the inspriation.  I just ripped out the first two verses and
choruses of Fortunate Son, twanging away on my Les Paul.  I see  now I
should have saved the track and put some of that gbdgbd dobro in it, and
maybe a bit of pennywhistle for a chorus effect.  Like a loose Ferris Wheel
does to a six person conversation on the topic of recycling spume.

Some discussions are just overwhelmed by circumstance.

Masters of War

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

CIVIL WAR SONG

One brother wore blue,
One brother wore gray,
One brother went,
One brother stayed,
One brother's here,
One brother's there,
Oh, where shall I fight,
Oh, what shall I wear?

I'm gonna wear my tight blue pants
And my gray sport jacket
And stay at home with the girls.
Now, now, now,
I don't want to get to Gettysburg,
No, no, no, no,
I got a protest sign
And a bottle of wine
And my baby and I are gonna
Go, go, go, go.
Now, Grant and Lee
Don't mean nothin' to me
And fightin's nothin' but a bore.
I'll wear my tight blue pants
And my gray sport jacket
And to hell with the Civil War.

I will also remember all the soldiers that lost their lives or quality of
life after returning home. War keeps on killing even after it's over.
I lost alot of friends and family from substance abuse and mental illness
caused by the stresses of war along with diseases such as malaria etc.
Sleeping in a foot of mud in a rice field after the bombing stops with
dead buddies around you must do wonders for your head. I don't have to go
into any more detail about what I've been told by
those who have served to keep me safe and warm, but I would like to thank
them from the bottom of my heart.
