PACK UP YOUR SORROWS

written by Tom Paxton / Richard Farina

Refrain:
C                                         F
Well, if somehow you could pack up your sorrows,
C                            G7
And give them all to me.
C                               F
You would lose them, I know how to use them,
C             G7    C
Give them all to me.

No use cryin', talking to a stranger,
Namin' the sorrows you've seen;
Oh, 'cause there are too many bad times,
Too many sad times,
Nobody knows what you mean.
{Refrain}

No use ramblin' walkin' in the shadows,
Trailin' a wanderin' star.
No one beside you, no one to hide you,
An' nobody knows where you are.
{Refrain}

No use roamin', walking by the roadside,
Seekin' a satisfied mind.
Ah, 'cause there are too many highways,
Too many byways,
Nobody's walkin' behind.
{Refrain}

You would lose them, I know how to use them,
Give them all to me.

oh ya, well then here's another one I find aptly paints the appropriate
picture sometimes.  The tone is sombre which makes it sound remote and
almost dead or depressed, but then that's the life of a band of junkies, I
guess.  8-)  Sure nice to see the cure of life worked for them guys.  The
underlying descriptions of the scenes of isolation and despair, into a
mania, remind me of the deep end of the pool of anguish.  Some pretty rough
roads travelled by these guys; - I'm sure many of us can place the time and
the mood for this one.  Sufis will recognize dance trance pattern from 1969.

Artist: CREAM  Album: Disraeli Gears
Song Name: Dance The Night Away
----------------------

Listen to song
Goner build myself a castle
High up in the clouds.
There'll be skies outside my window,
Lose these streets and crowds.

Dance the night away

Will find myself an ocean,
Sail into the blue.
Live with golden swordfish,
Forget the time of you.

Dance the night away.

Dance myself to nothing,
Vanish from this place.
Gonna turn myself to shadow
So I can't see your face.

Dance the night away.

Hear is one,

Cream: White Room

In the white room with black curtains near the station.
Black-roof country, no gold pavements, tired starlings.
Silver horses run down moonbeams in your dark eyes.
Dawn-light smiles on you leaving, my contentment.
I'll wait in this place where the sun never shines;
Wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves.
You said no strings could secure you at the station.
Platform ticket, restless diesels, goodbye windows.
I walked into such a sad time at the station.
As I walked out, felt my own need just beginning.
I'll wait in the queue when the trains come back;
Lie with you where the shadows run from themselves.
At the party she was kindness in the hard crowd.
Consolation for the old wound now forgotten.
Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes.
She's just dressing, goodbye windows, tired starlings.
I'll sleep in this place with the lonely crowd;
Lie in the dark where the shadows run from themselves.
