Alias, I read your response on 3/27 to me about "you". Are your iron
levels normal? Randy

I don't know. I imagine so or the doc would have said something. Being as I
don't consume any iron rich foods, I doubt it. Why do you ask?

Alias, You said you were a veggie-eater. No meat, less iron. Some hcv
patients have high iron levels. I am trying to control my iron levels.
Giving up meat is one way I am tackling said problem ip-6 is another. I
have had thera. phlebotomies for 5 yrs. off and on. The needles every
week are wearing out my veins. Doctors say I cannot control my iron
levels this way.(diet) Only blood removal or chelation. Randy

Randy, do you have hemochromatosis?  Phlebotomy is the only way I could
control my iron levels.

So do I, type II diabetes as well.  The doctors aren't sure, but think
the diabetes was caused by either the hep-c or hemochromatosis.  Doesn't
really matter how, I've got it and not much I can do to change it.  At
least the hemochromatosis is fairly easy to manage.

It's a genetic condition that causes the body to store more iron than is
necessary. It causes damage to the liver and other organs and makes it
more difficult to clear the virus using combo drugs.  Diet does not have
much to do with this condition and phlebotomy is the most practical way
to control it.
