ALT back to where it started 8 weeks ago.

I had my 8 week blood tests back. Starting on a positive note my heamaglobin
has only dropped a tiny amount in the last 4 weeks and now stands at 13.1
this probably explains why I am still able to swim and workout.

My wbc are down though I think that at 4,000 are still in normal ranges,
though my neutophils are low - can anyone tell me what they do?

The bugger's muddle is my ALT, it started out immediately before treatment
at 129, though 4 weeks prior to that it was 220.  Over the first four weeks
it dropped slowly to 93, it has now decided to go in the opposite direction
and is at 127.  God alone only knows what is going on, thankfully I paid for
PCR test at week 4 which was undetectable so I am not too worried, though am
a little confused.

Your jumping ALT rate is similar to what mine did when I started treatment.
Ask you doctor about it if your really concerned, but it sounds like your
making progress in the fight to kill this nasty bug.
One week of forty-eight left for me.

Yeah, mine went down and then back up too although results showed the
virus was undetectable.  Common reaction.  I have heard that is the
ribavirin slapping the ol' liver around a bit.  After successful
treatment things should settle down.

Hey Jon

I don't know how I overlooked this post?
I'm glad to hear your other levels are doing good
And relieved others have had similar experiences as yours with
rising Alt.

(mine have dropped from 60's to normal and stayed there so far
but then I never did get the log 2 drop in week 12 so go figure)

One thought that comes to mind is Weights and swimming
I originally attributed my elevated LFts to Strenuous exercise!
It seems its a cowmen symptom that will indeed do it
(however to what extent I can't say?)

Bottom try putting max hours between  taking your blood
and your workout see if that helps reduce the LFTs a bit?

Of course this is all just a guess from me
but it would seem if exercise can cause a "Normal" liver to show
elevated levels, ours may be even more sensitive to exercise?
My other thoughts are, have you changed your meds or TCM
lately?

Your Liver may just be reacting more strongly than expected?

Just guesses, wishing you well, keep us posted
How often are you testing?

(Just finished shot 15, still easy going,
Week 14 counts were pretty stable or even slightly improved)
Next week my extended 16 week PCR VL, fingers crossed)

Thanks Be Well, Be Strong, Get Better!

Mine had been over 200 for at least 2 -3 years, they dropped immediately
before treatment to 129, came down to 93 at week 3 but then started climbing
till they got to 127 at week 8. I have done a bit of research and think that
the raised ALT may be due to the interferon having killed off the virus in
my blood now attacking infected liver cells and killing them off.  So for
the moment I will see this a positive thing.

Not a bad idea, I had my blood work done on Wednesday afternoon last week
which would have been 2 days post weight training but only about 6 hours
post swimming.

I thought about this.  My TCM changes monthly, but my ALT had started to
rise before it was last changed.  Otherwise nothing has changed.  One more
good thing having read the research that coffee helps to reduce ALT levels I
have decided to allow myself 2 cups of coffee a day - life now seems worth
living again - my coffee love isn't quite that strong but it is amazing that
a cup of coffee a day just makes life seem a little more normal.

Blood work now tested every 4 weeks. I paid for a PCR test last week (8) and
will have another one at the end of week 12.

Approaching shot 10, and still relatively easy going, swimming 1,000 metres
5 days a week plus weigh training 3 times a week.  I have a holiday to Cairo
booked in the near future so that gives me something else to look forward
to.

Good luck with the week 16 PCR.

Those labs aren't bad at all. Are you on tx? Keep it up man. Your'e
doing OK. What about bilirubin, albumen and plats. Those are the ring
dingers. INR and Prothrombin time? A couple of beeg indicators of
nastiness for sure. My best to u. Brian

Hi Brian,

I am midway through week 9 (of 24), I got an undetectable at the end of week
4.  My nurse emails me the results of my blood work, but only sends me info
on those elements that are outside of the norm so I assume that everything
else is still pretty much in normal ranges though quite likely on the way
down.
