It seems like a milestone

I finished my first bottle of Ribavirin today, this puts me at the end of my
first 4 weeks on treatment. I must admit throwing away the box that had my
last syringe in on Friday felt really good. Shame I had to pick up another
box on Wednesday.  Still I am now 1/6 of the way through.

So far the sides are minimal and my health is holding up fairly well, I am
continuing to exercise. I have noticed that my muscles take longer to stop
aching post exercise with my thighs being the worst. I have had to alter my
thigh training a little and cut out heavy squats in favour of low weight
higher rep work which is a little less arduous.  Aside from the longer
recovery times the only things I am noticing at the moment are all fairly
mild and inocous effects, here's hoping that it continues in this vein.

I did get in a bit of a panic with my blood numbers as my ALT has stumbled
and gone up to 95 this week, this is only a minor increase (it was 93 last
week) but none the less I would have been happier with a decrease. All my
other blood work is in normal ranges though my haemaglobin is now at the
bottom end of the range at 13.5.

Shot 5 and new bottle of ribavrin tonight.

Several people in this group have reported elevated LFTs during
treatment, and still cleared. So no reason to panic. The viral load is
what's important.

Thanks for the reassurance. For the first 4 weeks I had weekly blood tests
and found myself obsessing on the numbers in spite of feeling fairly good,
so I am quite happy now that I can stick my head int he sand for 4 weeks now
until my next test.

Along with the standard blood work I had a PCR test taken on Wednesday, so
will have a better idea of how treatment is going in a week or so.

Cheers

Glad to hear your doing well. It is a milestone for sure....sounds like your
sides are manageable. I'll be doing #29/48 tonight...only 19 more after
tonight!! There's nothing better than a shot of interferon and a hand full
of ribavirin on a Friday night!!! :-)
Life is good

Good for you Mark!  Keep hacking away at that dragon.
Glad to read that your managing well Jonathan.  I haven't been able to even
walk around the block for the last three months.  Keep that muscle toned up
as long as you can.
Dragon slayers kick a.s,
Julie
