Thanksgiving Day in Hawaii

I hope you all are having a nice day today, with family and friends. I can
remember past holidays with my family growing up, For the most part, it was
cloudy off/onall day today. and 80 degrees f.The slight tradewinds that we
get, are refreshing.I can really relate to those of you who are in states or
countries where it is turning into winter.Like most of you I have shoveled
many driveways and walkways. For seven years I worked for the DPW and one of
my duties was to plow and sand streets. One night I had the Boston College
area on Commonwealth Ave, and as I drove by, dozens of teenagers who were
lined up in the street, and they all nailed my truck with snowballs. It was
so cool, I went around the block again for the fun of it.There was no way
they could hurt me, so I was in no danger.A few times I drove those little
sidewalk plows called a bombardier. They are tracked vehicles, have a
v-shaped plow, and are fun to drive. I guess I just wanted you to know that
I really have experienced Thanksgiving, and  the winter holidays in all
their frigid majesty.BUT, forgive me please, I just learned today that
Thanksgiving here in Hawaii can be pretty darn nice.Don't throw anything at
me please, I bruise easily.I did not have my camera, or I would post a
picture.(Is that kosher in this n/g.)The dinner I was invited to consisted
of about 25 or 30 people. Then property was right on the beach in Kailua. I
knew vaguely that some folks are more fortunate than others, but this place
was the bomb. It was not the fanciest/ swankiest place I've ever been to,but
the house was beautiful in a kind of lived in way that gives a home its
character. There was a huge backyard, and the property backed up to a salt
water river, next to kailua beach. The food and companionship was first
rate, I loved the turkey. We dined outside in a covered patio. Most years if
I did the cooking, I really enjoyed making soup the next day with the
carcass.Mmm good soup.So if there are any of you folks out there who do not
want to be bothered, please send me your turkey carcasses, so I can make
soup.Boy, that's asking for trouble. This was the first holiday I actually
enjoyed here, and really needed that.I had a little Maui Wowie earlier, so
if I am not making sense, that may account for it.This evening the moon was
almost full, and it was so incredibly beautiful, like a velvet oil
painting. Not having socialized much lately, I sought out advice on how to
behave and not bore folks with my problems.I got some really great advice
from someone whom I respect. She said, let them do all the talking, she said
they will probably talk about themselves, and think you are the most
brilliant conversationist ever. That's what I did, sort of.There was one
lovely woman there, she was 95 years old, and in good health. She takes
pride in needing no medicine. She flew here from Portland, alone, just to be
with the grandkids. That's gutsy. There was a great deal of food there, but
wouldn't you know it, I forgot to take a plate to go. I truly hope all of
you folks had a day to remember today.

Funny thing was, I took my 17th shot last night around 9:00 p.m.,took some
Tylenol, percosette, and ambien. I slept thank goodness. The point is that it
did not seem to phase me at all today. Certainly not like week, that's for
sure. No flu like symptoms at all this time.

Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving.  I enjoyed all the holidays in Hawaii,
but they just didn't seem the same because of the weather.

Sounds wonderful there John warm weather and get to eat out doors. A
very nice day indeed. It rained here in Sunny Calif yesterday and is a
far cry from the nice weather you have. I would send you my carcass but
I already put it in the freezer for soup. Glad you had a very nice
Turkey day, You deserve it.

Isn't is really weird how no 2 shots are alike. Glad you had a lite
shot. I never knew either, some were bad, bad, bad and some were much
better. I did have to have my dose lowered to continue tx due to
migraines beyond belief which landed me in ER many times, I think from
my thyroid going south. Who knows? Both
I was always hammered for 3 days after shot day which was on monday.
Beat with a broom is how I really felt.
Thursday I would start coming back to life but not really. Well you
know. When you get the undetectable notice its just full boar ahead
there was no stopping me.
My dragons packed their bags at about shot #5 I scared them off on tx.
and a few others. hehe LOL
Such a mission and a journey this tx is.
Lots of green helps especially for sleeping good.  Good day to yea

It rained???  Wow...I guess it missed me.  I drove out to
Palmdale to spend it with my dad.  Weather was actually
pretty nice. It had rained a couple of days ago and there
was still a lot of snow on the side of the road on Pearblossom
hwy (and boy did I hit traffic with all the skiers heading up
to Mountain High) but it was sunny and fairly warm.

A.G. Juanita lives about 350 miles north of you. With CA microclimates, it's
no wonder you do not experience the same weather. Even Californians forget
just how immense the state is.Plus she is in the foothills of the Sierra
Nevada mtn. range. I used to own 2 1/2 acres in Palmdale. I know many people
who invested in land there, expecting to get rich and retire. I got screwed
out of that land from my divorce, and hope my ex gets bitten by a
rattlesnake there.Oh do I sound bitter? Sorry.  :-)

Is that area anywhere near the Joshua Tree National Monument or The
Integretron?  Two places I want to see, that and Death Valley too in Calif.
someday. We were in Hawaii on a cruise ship and day tour thing in '91, I
found where Rainbow Bridge State Park was on the big island (Not the real
name, but close) where Hendrix recorded the Rainbow Bridge album at some
kind of International Freeks Festival or something where the vibes were
going to raise us all up to higher spritual levels around the world right
stinking now.  Maybe I embellished it a bit, but we liked Hawaii, (of
course) and I cannot figure out which specific island I want to go back and
visit again first.  It may not happen anyway, I think we're saving our dough
for a trip to Tonga, mostly on accumulated aeroplan points.  210,000 points
over ten years.  Lots of saving.  Must be worth something.  :-)

Joshua Tree is on the south side of the San Andreas and Palmdale is to
the north.  I think Palmdale is considered Kern County...slightly east
and a lot north of Los Angeles.  Joshua Tree is due east, heading
towards Palm Springs.  I love Joshua Tree.  Beautiful desert scenery
and some great hiking.  Death Valley is a nice place to visit...on a
one day trip <g>.  We camped out there one year.  The days were
hot and the nights were freezing.
I am embarrassed to say I have never heard of Integretron.

Ya, I know what you mean, John, I wondered about this Juanitas carcass thing
too...  Its amazing how people offer themselves up for the sake of the group
sometimes, isn't it?

That's something to be thankful for.  Maybe you need to eat turkey
more often John.  Sometimes I wonder if the Peg-Intron (alfa 2b) is
harsher than the Pegasys (alfa 2a).  I'm getting ready for shot #21 of
Pegasys and only had flu like symptoms with my first shot.  Being off
the ribavirin for a few weeks also did wonders for my hemoglobin and
though I've been back on for 2 weeks now I still feel like a new man.
Low hemo really drags you down.  Only a few more weeks of tx left for
me.

My transplant went fine.  I got mine May 2002.  It is these two years of HCV
poison treatment going into three that is killing me.

Last time I heard from you, you were not doing too good.
Better now?

Then apply marathon problem should be gone? :)
The "we" part is just a sign of a deep routed insecurity infestation
among no felling of remorse, 0 lack of ethics, morals, & respect for
others.
We" is common in Sociapaths, mal -adjusted types.
" We", makes them feel powerful over others.
"We" gives them a false sense of  receiving a big  boost for themselves.

Suffice it to say that I'm on three types of class 3 narcotics, and that my
hospice nurse says that she will bump me up to class 4 anytime I say the

That doesn't sound too bad  :),  but the reason they have you on such good
drugs has to be bad.

I was painted a grim picture of your condition.  Are you on the list for
another transplant?  Do you feel like talking about it?  WE beat this once.

Glad to hear you had a good one John.  I drove
out to my Dads.  His birthday was also Thursday so
we had lots of reasons to celebrate.
I have new neighbors.  I met them once and say
hi when they are out but we really haven't gotten
to know eachother.  Last night one of them shows
up at my door with a plate of food <g>.  How sweet
is that!  Not sure why they would do that but it
still has me smiling.  People can be pretty cool
ya know.
Of course Monday I go back to the salt mines
and all this positive, life affirming attitude is going
evaporate :-)

Hi John,
I like your behavior tactics. Since I am on tx I also realized how easy is
to
avoid the subject of being sick by simply letting the others talk.
And 99 of 100 they talk about themselves.
Good luck for the rest of the trip.
