Liver Flush

Hi

I was listening to a radio show this morning and on it was someone who had
contracted Hep-C through the sharing of needles. They claimed that they did
some kind of herbal liver flush for a year and all traces of the virus were
gone now, anyone know anything about this treatment?

I have a viral load of 72,000 , at least thats what it was 6 months ago. I
blew my chance at interferon treatment in a free clinic, well almost free ,
only because I still drink and missed some of the appointments. I hold a
responsible job and my employer knows I have this, I am very good at my job
so he will never get rid of me even though I can't work allot of the time
(which is why I don't have insurance), he still uses me to fill in and to
train new people. I think the first thing I should do is to stop the
drinking but its seems to be impossible to do this. I tried AA but it was
not for me, I guess I should try harder

Trust me, if there was any alternative for getting rid of this that
actually worked, everyone would know about it and be doing it.

Things that sound too good to be true usually are.

Hey Jim,
Go to a inpatient treatment center and get detoxed from the booze and get
back to AA.  If money is really an issue there are resources available that
I can direct you to for detox, but I need to know what town you live in.
Believe me there is no "trying" AA.  Living without alcohol and/or other
mind-altering drugs is something that never ends.  I had to do everything
that was suggested to get clean and sober and it was hell, but it was worth
it.  Been sober 12 years now and life has been wonderful.  Wonderful until I
started TX that is.  This too shall pass.

Julie

It is bogus. Snake oil. Why would anyone go through conventional
treatment if this actually worked? Some people (15-20%) clear the virus
on their own within the first few months of infection. That's probably
what happened with that guy (if he didn't simply lie, but who would ever
lie on the radio...). No herbs required, just the right genetic makeup.

If you have Hep C and still drink, you are doomed - you are on the fast
track to liver cancer. And treatment is unlikely to work if you drink
while you're on it (that's why they refused to treat you). So if you
want to live, stop drinking. There are other resources than AA to help
you, get off your butt and act. Or continue committing slow suicide.
Your choice.

Jim, I don't suppose you had a liver biopsy to check out the condition
of your liver.  The herbal liver flush is nice to think about, but
it's a bullshit ripoff.  Good luck to you.

There isn't an Herbal method of clearing the virus...trust me..if there
was one no one would choose the chemical route.  If this person did
indeed contract it then clear after a year chances are they were one of
the few that spontaneously clear and would have done so whether they
took herbs or not.  The virus is in your blood as well as the liver..so
short of removing the liver and doing a complete blood transfusion...there
is no "flush".

72K isn't that high.  Hopefully you have had a biopsy to determine
if your liver is damaged.  When I took the class from the drug mfg
the nurse told us that a person with no liver damage (stage 0) and
a viral load of 285k was actually borderline to begin treatment at
all.  ( I know because this was me).  You still may want to research
options at least to get the biopsy.

And yes, you should try again to quit drinking.  The virus is already
putting a load on your liver, adding a toxin like alcohol to the mix
is going to wear it out a lot faster.

Hi Jim,
You should really try harder and harder.

As a start you can compare the pleasant feelings
you receive while drinking with the prospective to
have no feelings at all very soon if you continue to
drink or have other unhealthy habits - as bad nutrition, obesity
smoking etc.etc. combined with the deadly
assistance of the HCV dragons in your system.

I have no experience with AA, you may try another AA group,
but maybe a better idea is to change your life - new friends,
girlfriends, job, neighborhood, anything - which can help
you stop drinking. Get a new hobby, get married, or divorced
if you like. Just try hard again and again.

Try to become a fan of the mineral water. Than try different
waters. You will be amazed how tasty some waters are.
And how different taste every one has, some are much better
than others. You will be surprised by yourself when you will
start asking in a restaurant for specific mineral water (say Evian)
instead of simply water.

And get on tx as soon as you can.

Captain - not drinking for one year in November

Welcome.

AA is for people who WANT to stop drinking. Otherwise it won't work.

Not will power but want power Jim.

Good luck.
