For those of you new to this group, I suggest that you add hoofie to your
killfile. She has a long and sordid history of foul behaviour on Usenet, and
she is the reason more than one kind and valuable member of our group no
longer posts here. She has crossed the line into real life on several
occasions and takes great pride in publicizing any personal information that
she can obtain (or fabricate) to embarrass, frighten and intimidate her
target of the week. Her questionable mental stability and viciousness seem
to cycle; she'll post normal, friendly messages for a bit, then will
(gradually or abruptly) lose it entirely and begin posting illogical,
irrational and imagined rants. If she attacks you, ignore her. If she seems
to get chummy with you, ignore her because that's how she'll set you up. In
other words, don't go there. Take care,

Thanks, babe!!! The two of us have had more than one disagreement over
the past few years, but we remain brother and sister because of mutual
respect. Heidi asked me to send you her love! I love you too!

As another person with "a long and sordid history of foul behaviour
[sic] on Usenet", who graces more kill files than most people have
known hot meals, and is proud of it, I have the following
observations:
First of all, when you "plonk" someone, it is unnecessary to post a
message advertizing this. It's usually more effective if you just
*do* it instead of telling everyone about it.
It is not required that you post a "troll alert" for new users.
They'll find out soon enough that Usenet is *full* of trolls like me.
If they can't take the heat, they might as well quit early.
Remember that you now really *must* plonk your target... otherwise,
you have committed the grossest Usenet faux pas... the "post-plonking
reply"! Note that this applies to "down stream" replies, also, i.e.
replying to his or her text quoted in another posting.
Talking *about* the plonkee will cost you 3 troll-points per
occurrence.
Why give any information? If I get "plonked" then I know that I'm on
target and I simply refine my heckling... Belle's Hells, man! Get a
grip! It's just an ASCII stream coming across your CRT.
Ever read *Macroscope* by Piers Anthony?
