It's the same thing that always goes through my head - WHY ARE YOU DOING
THIS ON NATIONAL TELEVISION? But then I still watch it.
I love Oprah. I never quite got her before but now that I'm watching
more daytime TV I do get it enough to enjoy it. So the combination of
Oprah, Ashley Judd's sharp and fast intellect, and Naomi's bizzare
surgically-altered kewpiedoll face (I love bad plastic surgery) was
enough to get me to watch it.

I was working from home and people on a conference call were being so
stupid that I ended up putting the phone on mute and having a good sob.

Who cares :) My doctor told me I'd have "mood swings" and I have warned
people about them. So I have the right.

I saw most of that in the theatre (I had to leave, I was physically
repulsed by the violence.) Not having had that form of religious
training it was nothing more than an SM pornfest. If it wasn't
representing the church in power in this country it would have been
given the X/NR rating that it deserves for the sick and explicit and
loving focus on someone being horribly tortured.
Mel Gibson's a freak, for sure, but what really scared me is how he took
the modern slice/dice horror film, the excitement of others being in
pain in brightly-lit-close-up, wrapped it up in religious piety, and
made 100s of millions of $$ off of it. And for the people moved by it -
it made me even more frightened for the future of the world which I
truly believe is going collapse in religious war.

Well, I won't feel bad if I shut it off then. If I'd paid for a seat
at the theatre and had to walk out, I'd have been pizzed.
As for the religious aspects, I'll walk a wide berth around that one.

Has anyone seen "Grave Of The Fireflies" yet?
