I've never had anemia so I'm not sure what the symptoms are.
I had my shot Friday, felt like crap Saturday, Sunday morning got up and
did stuff, and then Sunday afternoon and Monday just completely crapped
out. Slept about 4 0r 5 extra hours, including naps. I never take
naps. This tiredness and weakness seems different from the "I feel like
such crap that I can't do anything but lay down" feeling, this seems
like a weakness down to the core of my body.
I had blood drawn yesterday and am seeing the doc tomorrow. I will
check my #s tomorrow but said it's unlikely that I can't wait until
tomorrow to see him.
Is this what anemia feels like?

Yep, and after you've been on tx for awhile, you'll not need to have
blood drawn to tell you when your numbers are going askew. Your body
will tell you.

Of course not. :-) You'll know you have anemia when you get arrested
running naked down Avenue of the Americas sceaming "f.ck the world!!"
Whatever you do, don't punch the cop in the nose or they'll go even
harder on you.

I've worked out a system to know when my count goes too
low. There is a chair in a hallway going in to work....it is about half way
to my office. If I have to sit down and rest in that chair before walking
the rest of the way in to work, I know I've let my blood count get to low
again. I had to sit down this morning. WBC was found to be 2.6! Oooops.

Hi Gordo,
When I first saw your post I suspected that it wasn't anemia. I'll be
taking my 5th shot tomorrow. And I can tell you that I'm not anemic
either. (According to my first few blood tests) However, I get very
tired. Sometimes sleeping for 12 hours or more. Some days are ok. Some
are not. It also depends on how much work I do. On Saturday I mowed
the yards, weed whacked, and cleaned out the gutters. About 4 hours
work. Shortly after that the "bone weary" mode took over, and it took
two days to recover. My point being; be careful about how you feel. If
you feel ok, just take a walk and do the chores piece meal(sp?). I
speak from experience here. :)

Since reducing the dose of ribavirin (copegus) from 6/day to 5/day, my
red count went up one count (it had dropped 2 in the first 4 weeks.)
But my white count is down (not sure of the numbers) so he wants me to
reduce to 4/day. He said my other numbers are all normal and he should
have my Week 8 VL back tomorrow (Friday). My VL was very low at 4
weeks, so hopefully it will be undetectable. at 8. Fingers crossed.
He said that the study that showed the over 90% clearance rate in acute
cases was just using the PEG Interferon with no riba. I need to get a
cite for that, but I trust him.
I got an answer about why he didn't wait to see if I'd clear
spontaneously since I fit the profile of people who were more likely to
(visible jaundice, large drop in VL almost immediately with no
treatment) and he said "I have a lot of HIV+ patients and many of them
are positive for Hep C. I don't have a single HIV+ patient who has
antibodies but no viral load."

For me, it seems to depend on how much adrenaline I go through. I took
.5mg of Xanax this morning before work and just sort of glided through
the day. Went to a dinner party and only felt really bad right after I
ate (and it was REALLY bad, like someone had turned my 0-10 dial up to
90 and all I could do is lay on a bed and practice sloooooooow breathing
until it passed.) I'm about 10 min away from unconsciousness now.
It's like a fun house, you never know what you're going to run into at
the next turn.
