Next Friday (week 8/24) I go for labs and get my TSH, LFTs, CBCs and I
know what else.  I'm just wondering if you would have symptoms that
indicate your thyroid is out of whack or whether you might feel fine
but it could be in bad shape.

Russ should answer that one for you, he's our resident thyroid 'exert'.
Got milk?

I didn't notice anything - with all the sides, who knows where one
particular side is coming from. In retrospect, I could identify some of
the problems as thyroid related, but before I knew it it was all a wash.

ahhh, hahaha the thyroid, my old buddy!!!

Man I went f.cking bezerk about 4 months into tx, my thyroid went Hyper.
Couldn't sleep, couldn't stay still, my heart pounding 100-110 bpm at rest!
Hot all the time, agitated, pissed off. Just plain was crazy time!!

The doc put me on Atenolol to slow down my heart, that helped. 3 weeks later
my thyroid dried up and went Hypo, or not enough. My TSH (thyroid
stimulating hormone) went from zero to 59 in that time ( normal range is
like 0.5-5.5)

I gained 15 lbs in a week, swelled up like a sponge. Other symptoms were
coldness, very tired. The headaches were f.cking unbelievable. If it wasn't
for the Norco's I don't know if I could have made it.

Anyway I went on Synthroid, it took about 5 months for my TSH to stabilize,
though still to high. About the last month of tx I felt somewhat better.
It's been 2 1/2 months since ending the tx and I feel pretty good. My energy
level is great for all the hours I'm working.

The clinic where I got my tx from checked my TSH every month. My BCLD said
"we watch the thyroid real close".

Yours should too. Interferon can interfere with your thyroid!!!

<g> Yes, some of us here can vouch for the agitated-pissed-off part.
Man, weren't those fun times!

Week 8 will be the first time it's checked.  Hopefully, that will be
every month now.  Hope your thyroid gets back to normal soon.

Week 8 is the first time your thyroid is checked?  or the first time
you have any labs?  Seems like I am always getting blood drawn.

Just the first for TSH.  The second blood test altogether.  The first
after 2 weeks was just blood cell counts.  They said I'll have blood
drawn once a month unless something comes up.

Hmm.. my doc must be part vampire. :-)  Or maybe it's the different
drugs.  Besides the initial baseline before beginning, I got one every
two weeks for the first 2 months.  After that it's once a month.
I haven't had any issues with the labs, this is just his standard
procedure.  He even gave us a matrix showing which labs have to
be done and when.
