Julie - 30 Mar 2004 03:47 GMT Hey you two, how are you doing? Much concern, Julie
Susie Quill - 30 Mar 2004 09:44 GMT > Hey you two, how are you doing? > Much concern, > Julie Hey Girl!! I'm fine. Actually, I'm surprised that I feel this well. Had a headache since Friday. It is Tuesday evening here now. Had slight headache this a.m. and it faded. So, am feeling rather chipper. Sunday I felt well enough to go out to a movie. That is my big thing to do once in a while. Had thought I wouldn't be going to any movies for six months, so that was a pleasant surprise. Had to get out of the house. Slept until 2 a.m. Saturday, felt fair Sunday, except for slight headache that didn't go away until today. Saw the doc in the hallway today and he gave me a couple prescriptions....one for headaches, tylenol #?. I think that has codene in it though and I'm allergic to codene. Will have to check. Any suggestions for something else? This ibuprofen just didn't touch that headache. Are you taking your first shot tomorrow Julie? Be sure and put ice bucket next to the bed and a couple containers of water. I drank all my water and was too out of it to be able to go get more with a temp of 105 (I thought it was 103, but friend told me later I was wrong). If he hadn't come over, I wouldn't have gotten any more water or ice for a while I don't think. I should have written down the times that I took medicine and how much. I couldn't remember how much or when, so he wouldn't give me any more ibuprofen. Was afraid I'd over-dose. Actually, I think frying my brain should have been more of a concern. I woke up later and helped myself actually. I can do this. I am definitely going to do this. It may get worse, but I am determined I'm getting thru this. I worked Monday....didn't wanna but I did. Not real energetic, but I'm their and stay busy....sort of. Never been a clock watcher before, but I am now. Thanks for asking. I sometimes have trouble getting in to the newsgroups and sometimes computer lines are down and submarines have to go fix them.....so never know for sure. If I'm not around for a while, don't worry about me.Thanks, Susie P.S. Make sure that you don't have anything blocking your way to the bathroom....shoes, etc. Too easy to run in to things or trip.

I'm pleased that things seem to be going reasonably well for you Susie. I also made contingency plans for not being able to do much for 6 months. Although I'm well warned that things may change (I'm only in third week), I've actually been doing a lot more on tx than before - without needing to push myself. The first two shots zapped me out a bit for 24 - 36 hours but the third one hasn't touched me. I am probably speaking far too soon but I'm starting to hope that I may be one of the lucky 10% who has minimal side effects. I would like it to be like that for everybody.

Signature Paul //////////////// "The Lucky 10!" I forgot to tell you about one of the sides, Paul. In the fourth week, fleas will begin to infest your armpits and crotch. You'll get an earwig that will crawl into your ear and eat it's way into your brain. That's what really causes all the confusion and brain fog, not the drugs. :-) Go get em, mate! Elmo

Maybe my sides are minimal because my life has already been one giant side effect and it's hard to spot the difference.

Signature Paul ////////////////// Glad you haven't lost your sense of humor, Paul. That's half the battle! I like to joke alot about sides, it's kept me insane thru 3 treatments. You're going to breeze right on thru only 6 months of tx. Elmo

Well Elmo, my sense of humour is my first line of defence against these drugs. It does occasionally get breached but, largely because of being pre-warned on this newsgroup, I know what to look out for. Mainly because of what I've read on here, I have been able to see riba-rage very quickly and diffuse it with humour. In fact, because I need to be more vigilant than usual, I have found that my anger management has actually improved (so far). Mind you, they still haven't found that traffic warden who stuck a ticket on my car. Hope they don't decide to rod the drains.

>Paul, my third shot was like that, nothing happened. haha, thought I had it >made in the shade!!!! WRONG!!!! I have seen a number of emails and forum messages where people have said that the peg didn't kick in for a few weeks so I am not going to get complacent about this Russ. Rather, I just assume that I will probably feel worse sides at some point but I am going to enjoy myself as much as possible until it happens. Without the internet, I would have had no warning whatsoever about this. They do seem to be a bit sparing on giving out information at the hospital.

Lucky 10%? Yikes, I don't like those odds. The PA told me people who stay active do better and gave me the standard "It get's better after the first few shots" bs. I probably won't be starting TX until May so maybe the exercise program I started will help. I would savor all the good weeks in case they are scarce.
Russ - 30 Mar 2004 18:50 GMT I never did like codeine, always made my stomach hurt. Hydrocodone w/Tylenol works fine for me. No upset stomach, just no headache!! No constipation, or any other problems. The dose my doc gives me is Hydrocodone 10mg/ acetaphinamin 325 mg. They work, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. For minor headaches I can get by on two tylenol and two ibuprofen.
And lots of water!!!

Ozzie Osbourne likes them and that man knows his drugs.
elmoemerson@webtv.net - 30 Mar 2004 11:49 GMT Thanks for asking, Julie. I'm doing ok except for some minor tenderness on the fingertips of my left hand. :-) My fingers used to feel like hot dogs when I was on tx, now I'm getting back some of my dexterity. Matter of fact, some of my brain fog is clearing as well. That's a wonderful combination to have gotten back. I'm in heaven!!!
By the way, my doc asked me why there was a little inflammation in one of my nostrils last week. I didn't know why and told her that I like to pick my nose. ahahahahahahahha Maybe that's why my fingertips are sore.
Keep the faith, baby!
Elmo
