"Victims" of Second Hand Smoke

THOSE 400,000 SMOKING "VICTIMS" LIVE LONGER THAN THE REST OF US!
Preliminary report
By Rosalind B. Marimont

For years the anti-tobacco crusaders, from Drs. Koop and Kessler to
President Clinton, have claimed that "cigarette smoking is the greatest
cause of preventable or premature deaths, causing 400,000 deaths a year, a
number greater than auto accidents, homicide, suicide, and various other
causes of death combined."

They have used this statement to brand tobacco public health enemy number 1,
and to justify huge amounts of money, time, and attention to the war on
smoking, while all but ignoring alcohol and drug abuse.

Incredibly, analysis of the ages of the 400K supposed deaths computed by
the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) SAMMEC (Smoking Attributable
Mortality, Morbidity and Economic Costs) program shows that tobacco is not a
major health threat at all - the supposed victims did not die early!

*    THE SMOKING "VICTIMS" LIVED LONGER THAN THE REST OF US, BY ABOUT 2
YEARS - 71.9 vs. 70.

*    OVER 70,000, or about 17%, DIED "PREMATURELY" AT AGES GREATER THAN 85.

*    ONLY 1900, OR FEWER THAN O.5 % OF THE SMOKING "VICTIMS" DIED AT AGES
LESS THAN 35, WHILE 143.000, OR 8% OF THE REST OF US DIED AT AGES LESS THAN
35.

If so many of the smoking victims are old, and so few young, and if, on the
average, they live longer than the rest of us, how are their deaths
"premature"? According to the technical definition used by SAMMEC, any
"smoking related" death is considered premature. There is no upper age limit
to the computation.

These astonishing numbers, which totally demolish the main argument of the
anti-smoking movement, are the result of my analysis of the SAMMEC age
distribution computations for the years 1990-1994, provided, at my request,
by the Office of Smoking and Health (OSH) of the CDC. For comparison with
other deaths, I used 1992 mortality statistics of the National Center for
Health Statistics.

On the other hand, the deaths slighted in the 400K statements are
premature. For example, the average ages at death of motor accident victims
was 39, of suicides 45, and of homicide victims 32, compared to 70 for the
general population. These non-smoking deaths total about 98000, of which
about 50% are under 35, and are largely alcohol and drug related.

The SAMMEC methodology has been criticized by many epidemiologists,
statisticians, and all purpose general applied mathematicians like me on
technical grounds, which are usually not comprehensible to non-specialists.
But these age numbers are easy to understand - How is tobacco the number one
killer, when its "victims" live longer than the rest of us?

I would think car pollution is more harmful than second hand smoke.
We should ban cars.   At least in restraints.

Of course, your sick implications notwithstanding, trains are by far safer
than cars. Just think, *you* might be the driver.

What sick implications are you implying I am making?

Statistically, aircraft are the safest form of transport, but I do hear some
people are scared of flying anywhere.

I was asking what you suggest we all do? Ride a bicycle for example? But you
then exhale enormous amounts of CO2, which is a "greenhouse gas", remember?

Then of course the feral cave dwellers fart continually. That's methane,
another greenhouse gas.

Depends what you mean by "safe". Waiting for hours for a security check
isn't good for your mind and if you happen to have a name similar to some
suspected terrorist, plan on a even more unsafe experience in a USA jail.

And the plants love it. Save your junk science for someone naive enough to

Oh poor Cody, his mind is so weak that he gets upset at airports and even gets
paranoid thinking about them.

Well here's some more "junk science" for you Monkey Boy. Plants, and that is
only green plants (its the chlorophyl you know?), take in CO2 during daylight
hours but during the hours of darkness they respire like you or I and breathe
it out. The only net producers of oxygen are *deciduous* trees in *temperate
zones*. Most of our oxygen is produced in the sea, and every last atom of it
originated deep inside the earth.

The problem with stoopids like you is that they pay too much mind to dancers
and cannucks with exaggerated opinions of their own importance.

> > Then of course the feral cave dwellers fart continually. That's methane,
> > another greenhouse gas.
>
> Does anyone take you seriously?

HoHoHo Monkey Boy. *You* whined and whined about the fart humour. All you ever
do is *whine*.

Fact. You and the dancer both proved by your own actions that you *hate*
America and sympathise with her enemies. WTF Elmo refuses to see that is beyond
comprehension.

And Stoopid, donchaknow that one of the biggest producers of methane is cattle
farting? That's why I regard it as my duty to reduce global warming by eating
those steaks, roast beef dinners, and prime ribs whenever I can.
Hey imagine how many reincarnated boodists I've eaten in my lifetime?

And as long as Lu takes me seriously wtf does it matter what *you* think or do?

Noway Pom, even the *Feral Cave Dwellers* don't want that stoopid chapero

his tambourine around the cave entrance, but alas the cave-gate is shut on him

The only door open to his unparalleled kind of *stoopid* would be the

Um, dress is not a part of True Buddhism, except for priests when they are

We all have at least one red shirt/bliouse/dress unless you are one of

I guess I am thinking of the Amish, and the door to door bible thumpers
who must only wear black suits and white shirts with jackets even in
over 100 degree hot summer weather, cuz that is all I ever see them

even my old neighbor who was Seventh Day Adventist went to work as head

They also don't have a system of be good go to heaven be bad and go to
hell.
They go to different planets.  The thieves all go to one planet, the
murderers to another and so on and so forth.  Or so I was told.
They also have different 'sects, like the death angels or some name
close to that.
I view them as the true wolf that dons the cloak of deception based on

YOu don't' know Sister Ann.  She began drinking and smoking and used her
religion to deceive someone into getting involved with her.
I am not joking.  The picture they present to the world is quite
different than the one the inner circle knows about.  THey present
themselves as perfect human beings, but if you dig deeper a different
picture emerges.

In fact if you are googling that they are preaching to the Mexicans that
they believe in Jesus Christ, I would say they are deceiving the Mexican
people into thinking that based on the fact that mexico is X % Catholic.
What do you think of men who have children and then allow the State of
Utah to support those Children?
I guess you haven't watched any of the reports from Utah about these
people and what they are really like.
THey want to increase their fold and claim that they are the strongest
Church, with more followers than any other religion.  They use the fact
that Catholic priests have sinned against god to increase their masses.
If you are dissatisfied with your religion they don the cloak and
convert you into their stronghold.
They don't tell you that you will only be a Jack Mormon and never a true
Mormon.
For more information read the August 2, 1997 publication of Time or News
Week Magazine.
Also there was a man who was reported to have information regarding some
papers written by John Smith that proved that they were a bogus
relgion, the man was found murdered or something.
That report was a few years ago.

And you can use Ask Jeeves, I don't know if Alta Vista search engines

not combined the knowledge in quite the same extent that google has, but
you have to dig to find the truth.

And  because this is a major button in my life and because i have
brushed elbows with the Mormons since the 1970's and really brushed up
against them in the 1980's here is some more on how they perceive Jesus
Christ.
http://www.irr.org/mit/Is-Mormonism-Christian.html

           3. ARE JESUS AND SATAN SPIRIT BROTHERS?

The Bible teaches and orthodox Christians through the ages
have
believed that Jesus is the unique Son of God; he has always
existed
as God, and is co-eternal and co-equal with the Father (John
1:1, 14;
10:30; 14:9; Colossians 2:9). While never less than God, at
the appointed
time He laid aside the glory He shared with the Father (John
17:4, 5;
           Philippians 2:6-11) and was made flesh for our salvation;
His incarnation
was accomplished through being conceived supernaturally by
the Holy
Spirit and born of a virgin (Matthew 1:18-23; Luke 1:34-35).

By contrast, the Mormon Church teaches that Jesus Christ is
our
elder brother who progressed to godhood, having first been
procreated as a spirit child by Heavenly Father and a
heavenly
mother; He was later conceived physically through
intercourse
between Heavenly Father and the virgin Mary (Achieving a
           Celestial Marriage, p. 129; Mormon Doctrine, pp. 546-547;
742).
Mormon doctrine affirms that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers
(Gospel
           Principles, pp. 17-18; Mormon Doctrine, p. 192).

And on the main page of their link the article which I was refering to
was in Time on August 4th.  I don't know why I keep saying August 2nd
unless News Week also had an article out on Aug 2, 1997.
http://www.irr.org/mit/

See the link into Hinckley.
I also have found the Blood Atonement interesting for my own personal
reasons of course and from words that have been said to me by someones
hubby in several places including the US Post Office where he worked.

And that is a rhetorical question Cody.  Sez more than the average cave

but judging by the judging it is a lifetime effort for some to realize
that what is  norm to some may or may not be norm to you or me or anyone

That was not an attack FYI Elmer.
And how dare I post my lab results in an HCV support NG.
Tell me does it make you very angry to know that My AST/ALT are normal,
and I drink 12 cups of coffee a day, eat meat, and imbibe in an
occasional margarita?  IN fact I was wondering  if the margarita I had a
day and a half before the blood draw had anything to do with my AST

From what you have already said in this NG, you smashed your computer
the first day you set it up.
Now if you were to promise to smash your webtv,.......
So now that your out of treatment and your results are negative, your
true self is shining through.  Is it not you, who is in full support of

Would that be the same computer that you messed up on your first day of getting

You know what is even more interesting then his hatred of me.  He has no
clue that I am aware that he and Chukker are friends, and so I just have

I have no clue what he was told about that very brief relationship, but

Well you did mention how he fainted ;-) Musta embarrassed him or something.

Yaknow the big macho ego that sent certain women pictures of his yacht?

You'd have to ask his friend Ray who he never would help out when he
needed an extra hand.  I only heard about how he was so excited to come
here, that he fainted up there.

> Yaknow the big macho ego that sent certain women pictures of his yacht?

What yacht??  His dads fishing boat was the bloodiest in the back bay.
He was always mentioning staying in character.  I took that to mean he
was putting on an act.

Yaknow some thought it was cos he was diabetic, and yaknow there was a certain
real long distance sailor who wondered what a diabetic, prone to fainting would
be doing with a yacht. Yaknow, you get in a heavy swell, the waves rocking and
rolling the yacht, you faint, and three weeks later your body washes up on some
beach and ruins the day for the folks on vacation.

Dunno. He certainly didn't send me any yacht pictures, but I heard about some.
I just wondered, being a cynical type, why a guy with a yacht would be needing
to impress women in a newsgroup? Hell, I thought a yacht was like the
Professor's Porsche, a kinda babe magnet, but now a fishing boat, well that's
not gonna pick up any megababes is it? Just a few old crustaceans.

Don't tell me his worst fear came true and he preceded his dad in death
at age 54?
He was very afraid of that happening yaknow.  kinda sad..

He didn't send me any yacht photos either, but I think he was buying
stuff from LZ back then.  Something gold.
He isn't a bad person just had a horrible string of bad luck and doesn't

That is what I told him, but yaknow!! He just had to pursue all options
and added the stuff to his treatment protocol.
He took the Infergen and went to Mexico for the Riba, which back then
IYRC was not approved for use with each other, Of course Riba and Intron
A were not approved for use with each other either.

Filed my complaint today, sent the stuff certified mail. Was just
reading the penalties in NV, YIkes kinda steep since the check was over
$1,000.00.  The kid called here a couple of times, making promises yada,
yada, yada, and then blows ya off the next day.  This time he is
avoiding signing for the second certified mail demanding full payment
within 10 days.  What he doesn't understand is that I only needed the
receipt from the Post Office stating that I had sent the letter and a
copy of the letter I sent.  In this case a contract was also involved,
soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.  We shall see what happens. Also
sent the DA their signed contract, the first certified letter and the
receipt he signed from the Post Office.
Take a look over in SPP.  Sentencing was 5 years, reduced to 3 years,
loss of license for that person.
Now if they would only round up a few more, ah well, I said that that
one lady would make the headlines some day, had no clue that one was
already in hot water back when the witch hunt began, and of course the
lady is in denial about the entire thing, but then take a look at what
they did to me.  Talk about Kharma.

But Riba was the approved treatment for Lassa fever at one time. Surely he
needn't have gone all the way to Mexico?

This is the post from Kali that really cracked me up.  Not made to me at
the time.  but still very FUNEA! as they say over in SPP.  [ i love the
education and critical thinking part, as neither of those qualities were
high on her own list back in 2002]

:He is not innocent, he is a convicted child molestor.

Convicted without the ability to present evidence in his
own defense.

Education and critical thinking are evidently not high on
your list of priorities. At times like these I remind
myself that the overwhelming majority of the population
enjoy an IQ somewhere between 85 and 115 (Usenet may be a
selective population with lower bounds), believe everything
they read in the newspaper, don't understand complex issues
or what constitutes "evidence", and don't seem to mind
placing themselves in jeopardy of a law suit to express
their ill-considered opinions.

Ha-Ha-Ha. She must have took one of those "mensa" type tests. LMAO

They are an aquired skill yaknow. They were an integral part of the 11-plus
exam. You had to do the IQ test first, and if you were in the top 25% then you
later did the maths and English tests. If you passed all three you then gained
entry to a grammar school.

Anyway, we had this canny Scot teaching us, Mrs Wilson was her name. She told
us that she was going to teach us to pass the exam. She showed us how to do the
IQ tests and gave us some past exam paper. On the first one I scored 66%. On
the next one I was up to 85%. Hahaha, by the time we did the real 11-plus, and
I was only 10 when we did it, I was scoring 95%. I passed the IQ test at ten
years old, and they told me that put me in the top 25% of the population. Well
that might have gone to my head but all I wanted to be was a sailor. Anyway,
the way I see it those IQ tests are an *aquired* *skill*, otherwise how could
Mrs Wilson have taught us to do them, and I assume that in every other school
throughout Britain there were other Mrs Wilsons doing the same thing with all
ten and eleven year olds?

Nowadays I see these people who passed a "Mensa" test telling me that they are
superior beings. Have you considered *why* anybody would voluntarily take an IQ
test? I *had* to do them, it was part of the school system, but the *only*
reasons I can see for anybody taking that Mensa test are:

1. Because they have an exagerated opinion of themselves to begin with.

2. They have some insecurity that they are trying to compensate for.

They are an aquired skill. Anybody who thinks they aren't is a fool.

Kali is full of crap. Have you never observed how certain people who have
problems go off to get themselves a Psychology degree? My former sister-in-law
was one of such. Got herself a psychology degree, got herself a job, and six
months later she had a "nervous breakdown". I know another young woman who is
right now getting herself a psychology degree simply because she is obsessively
neat and tidy and wants to fix herself.

I guess this explains some of the *projecting* that has been done against me.

> > There should be more in there if you run a search on mark morin.  really

Bah. He accused me of feeling sorry for myself when my wife died. He later
accused two women of the same thing, one of whom had just lost her child. I
could tell you more but I have been asked not to say anything, and if certain
people are afraid to defend themselves in here, or are too embarrassed by
having been taken in by him for a while to do so, then that is their problem,
for I have given up fighting other people's battles. I now stand vindicated in
my original opinion of him.

Funny that you mentioned six months, i have noted the six month and
going over the edge in many persons who work in psych.

He said that, I didn't know that.  Personally he posted a lot of good
information for me to read and until the stalking thing back in 2002  I
had some respect for him.  I lost a small amount of respect for him when
he joined in the posts, and after this I am very disappointed in his
behavior.  considering that most of the people in that NG use the pedo
flame, he really should have known better.

Always happy and glad to help out a fellow sufferer.  WE suffer the
Feral ones, we suffer Elmer, and we suffer as blood sisters and
brothers.
I don't know about the wine or beer, will schedule my next test in
August, so will have a Dos Equs a day before hand and let you know.
I  must warn you though that my blood tests during the summer months
have spiked out of range, and not because I wasn't drinking anything but
Green Tea.
My thyroid was ok too.

PS: on the coffee, make sure it is Caffeinated, not decaf or half caf.
Also sometimes in the winter I have been known to make another 6-8 cups
a day on top of the 12 cups.

I never drink decaf as I'm sure it is toxic. Instant coffee is quite ghastly
too. Obviously green tea is to be avoided too.

I'm glad your thyroid is OK. I just had mine checked and am awaiting the
results.

Do you actually think anyone would take a recomendation from you Alan?
Your the biggest joke in this newsgroup, some other groups too.

Well, he participated in the initial Rebetron trials. Where would all
the people now here on the new and improved Peg version be without
ones like him who were willing to be treatment guinea pigs when its
effects were unkown?  I've read things he's posted about insulin
resistance and other info which have helped me, but OTOH a closed
mind might not learn much.

>Your the biggest joke in this newsgroup, some other groups too.

Following him around, are you?  A lot of the girls seem to do that.

Sincerely,

Robin

I thought you'd be here to stand backup sooner or later.  You always are.

I was also in the intitial trials, bombed out, just like him.  Never said he
hasn't ever posted good info, but be honest here, Alan hasn't done much here
but lash out for a good long while.

No,  I have seen his picture, I don't think that would make any girl follow him
around.

I guess it's all right with you that he can harass people but when someone
gives him a tug, you gotta step in huh? Ain't that nice.

A sure sign of diss-association.

Yes, but Robin *knows* I don't need any back-up, so she gives it freely.

What makes you think I bombed out, Sugar-lips?  Ize a doin mighty fine.

Lash out? Bwaaaaaaaa. Don't you get what a big joke it is seeing all you self-
pitying and whining hypochondriacs wallowing in *eternal* self-pity?

And headed up by that louse who accused me of feeling sorry for myself?

Bwaaaa. Go pop a pill Mareyem and wallow a bit more.

*snigger* Well the last but one was 26 and scared of flying but she flew over
16000 miles last year. Now who would have been on treatment at the same time as
me, bombed out and seen my picture? *snigger* Oh yes and what could Mareyem be
a derivation of?

When are you going to take some *responsibility for *your* actions Whiney girl?
Now get back in your corner by your bowl and chew on your bone.

And stop chewing Robin's leg like that. She can out-think you anyday, and that
frikking self-professed "genius" too.

Hey that should be "you're", which is an abbrevation of "you are"
"Your" is a personal pronoun. What were you saying about jokes?

Hell, only a joke like you regards newsgroups as anything but a big joke
anyway. How many times do you have to be told, If you want *sincere* medical
advice you go to somebody who was *sincere* enough to obtain a doctorate in
medicine.

I recommend that all *sincere* posters enter Maryem into their killfiles.

That should be Pinky. What, do you imagine that calling me a name I have had
for at least 15 years is gonna upset me?

Bwaaaaaa. Would you like a list of other nicknames I have had? They range from
Arnold after the golfer who is my namesake, through Zeke, Blue, John,
Froggy........and of course Pom.

Bwaaaaaaaaa it wasn't me who went into an epie-fit because somebody shortened
his name to Dave one time. You Yanks are so stoopid over names.

Pinky

ahahahahahahaha How *sincere* that is of you Elmo.

What you mean is, you got friendly emails telling you "Don't argue with Cody or
people will see *Them* are telling it like it is". Of course Susie-Q is hardly
either a newbie or impartial is she, she's been in the sys-tek's pocket for
years and sista julie's sockpuppetry is plain for all to see.

Hoof kiss a.s? Would you be *projecting* again Elmo? ahahahahahahaha

By the way, I could care less what your

ahahahahahahaha How very *supportive* of you Elmo.

Hoof's bones look in far better shape than the sys-tek's so I know where I
would prefer to be getting my hepatitis advice. Obviously Hoof is doing
something right and a *sincere* person would want to know what.

At least in the U.S. the women don't get felt up like they do in Saudi!!  I
was leaving the country after working their, and the lesbian female security
guard had her hands all over my breast feeling me up!!  I yelled and tried
to push her away unsuccessfully..  The security that I complained to thought
it was funny.  A flat chested friend that I saw a few minutes later said
that she doesn't do that to the flat chested women.   I'm still irate every
time I think about it. @#$@#$ Saudi's.   When re-entering the U.S., a male
security guard checked my purse for mace!  He let all the men go by and told
me that women frequently have mace in their purses, so he stoppped me and
thoroughly checked me out.  .  We hadn't had 9/11 at that time.  It happened
later, and idiots like that probably checked the purses of women and let the
men walk right on in.    Now perspiration is considered suspicious, so they
stop menopausal women having hot flashes and let the young, healthy guys
with backpacks on walk right thru so they can't claim that they are being
harrassed.  Easier to harrass blond headed, green eyed Grandmas.
Sore subject.

Sue. I live in the UK.  I recently went to Spain for a holiday (pre-tx
to blow the cobwebs away).  I went through four lots of security
altogether (British and Spanish twice each - and before the Madrid
train bomb).  I got stopped and searched at three of them.  The friend
who came with me didn't get stopped once.  He reckoned it was because
of my scruffy jumper.  I took it off before the fourth security check
and wasn't searched LOL. We went through the fourth one pissing
ourselves laughing.  Not relevant to what you were saying but I
thought I'd add it anyway. :-)
