KCNAQ - 24 Feb 2004 22:27 GMT Went to the local CVS pharmacy to pick up my drugs today. I had dropped the prescription off last week, to make sure I had them before my start date - this Friday. The girl at the counter pulls them from underneath of the counter. I tell her that one of the prescriptions needs to be refridgerated. She says "Oh" and checks with the pharmicist. Then she says "someone made a mistake" - apparently they had been under the counter for three days. So she gives me the copegus and says come back tomorrow for the pegasys. Needless to say this has me a little bothered. How does everyone else get their prescriptions filled? Can you get them direct from Roche? I have excellent prescription coverage from work - but I have to check if they cover mail order. By the way, the CVS price for 1 month supply of copegus was $680. I only have to pay $5 of that. But is $680 in line with what others charge in the US? Well, I just had to vent a little. Have a good night all!

Dwight - 24 Feb 2004 22:43 GMT Ken, I get mine 3 months at a time by mail. Check with your insurance company about prescription delivery. Mine come overnight and packed in a cooler with freezer packs. I had some problems with the company a few months ago, but since then it has been going pretty smoothly. Good Luck.

KCNAQ - 24 Feb 2004 23:05 GMT Thanks Dwight, I will check out mail order. I'll have a month supply to start - so it gives me a little time to investigate. I'll check with Blue Cross and also my liver Doc.

elmoemerson@webtv.net - 24 Feb 2004 23:58 GMT Blue Cross will want you to use mail order because they don't have to spend as much. Mail order sucks. I've had trouble with it twice. I didn't get a delivery once because they shut down all the aiplanes because of 9/11 and another time because Priority Health Care just didn't ship it. CVS is much more convenient....I can order it and pick it up any time I want on my way home from work. I've never had a problem with CVS, even managed to date the pharmacist. hehe I like getting my meds from someone I know instead thru the mail. I don't like mail order hepc drugs and I don't like Priority Health Care even more. They could give a sh.t about their customers. I picked up my new refridgerated box of pegasys at CVS today ($1295 for 4 doses by the way). Talked to the pharmacist and she assured me that there wouldn't be a problem in the future. They even showed me the old box that hadn't been refridgerated. Apparently a temp was working the day it got in. I don't know if this is weird or not ... but I'm looking forward to getting started. (I probably won't feel like this Friday night and Saturday!) I know this might be an awfully rough trip, but I'm ready to get on with this, deal with whatever sides come my way, and get it over and done with. Luckily I only have to do 24 weeks. And after this Friday, I'll only have to do 23. Have the best day possible! I'll let you know how things go.

Pete nospam Zakel - 25 Feb 2004 21:45 GMT > I don't know if this is weird or not ... but I'm looking forward to getting >started. I felt the same way before I started my treatment. It just feels good to know you are *doing* *something* that may eradicate something that you just don't want to be there.
Of course, mine came back. I'm leaning towards doing treatment again, but I need some other areas of my life to stabilize before I will go that route. In the meantime, I'm keeping an eye on what other treatments may be coming down the pike.

"I mean, for goodness sake, we have Stillwater State Penitentiary here and we can't keep drugs out of there, and these people are locked up 24 hours a day. If you're going to fight the war on drugs, you have to fight it on the demand side. And I don't believe that government should be invading the privacy of our own homes, and I also believe that you shouldn't be legislating stupidity. If there are stupid people out there doing stupid things, it's not the government's job to try to make them smarter. We live in a land of freedom. And again, if we can't keep the drugs out of the state penitentiary, how on earth are we going to do it out on the street corner?"

I'm positive new and better treatments will arrive in the near future. I almost want to wait to see what comes along myself ... but I have to take the chance to clear this thing now. Best wishes and Good luck.

elmoemerson@webtv.net - 24 Feb 2004 23:46 GMT I get mine from CVS also and have found that it's the most reliable and convenient way. Your experience seems uncommon, I've never had that problem with CVS. Trust me, they won't leave it under the counter for 3 days next time if they have to eat the cost again. It's good you caught them in their buffoonery. Mail order sucks, especially a Florida company called Priority. I'd NEVER deal with Priority again, they didn't ship to me once and I had to drive all over North Jersey on shot night looking for a dose before I got one. As long as you reorder from CVS when you get down to your last vial, you'll have no problem. Good luck to you! Elmo

KCNAQ - 25 Feb 2004 00:11 GMT Thanks for the reply Elmo. I'll talk to the pharmacist tomorrow at CVS. I'm glad I arranged to pick it up a few days early ... and you are right - hopefully they learned a lesson on this one. (But I'm going to check to make sure they don't just post a new label on the old box - that thought crossed my mind!) I'll let everyone know how it goes. Ken

Don't know about the cost though - it's free to me at point of use (more than paid for in my general taxation down the years).
