Recently my eyes began burning and stinging whenever I used my
Glaucoma Drops. According to my Eye Doctor I had developed an allergic
reation to the preservative in the drops (Cosopt and Xalatan) and he
stopped the Xalatan and put me on Travatan Z. The pain as subsided
although it is not totally gone.
I would like to hear from anyone that has gone through the same thing
and/or is on Travatan Z or like medications.
Thanks.

Benzalkonium Cloride (BAK) is the common preservative in Cosopt and
Xalatan and it is known to cause problems. It's even a problem for
those who used BAK-containing contact lens solutions. If you are really
allergic to it (and not just sensitive) you should watch for other
products with it. Some first aid hand cleaners or wound treatments
contain BAK.
I prefer Travatan if only because it doesn't have to be refrigerated.
That makes it easier to travel and such.
