hi folks,

i am new to this group and I have a question that if anyone has any
experience or knowledge on, I would sure appreciate any help.  My right
eye has a high internal pressure caused by being hit by a rock at close
range, about five weeks ago. While the pain and swelling has eased a
little, and I don't need to take painkillers so often these days, the
pressure still remains high, between 30 to 38mmHg.  My vision is
improving to where I can almost read text clearly, but the continuing
high pressure concerns me. My pupil stays fully dilated.  My eye
specialist wants to continue to wait and see if the drugs and drops
will do their thing (diamox tablets and combigan and predfort drops),
which would be a better scenario than surgery, so I understand. My
questions are, has anyone here had glaucoma due to this kind of
accident, and did the high pressure continue like this,  and did it get
better and the drainage system heal in the end, and if so how long did
it take? I would really like to know! It would give me some heart,
because at the moment I'm not really sure if my eye's drainage system
is healing or not, though it seems like it might be, just very slowly.

thanks, Robyn

I can answer one of your questions:  Yes, glaucoma can be caused by
trauma to the eye.  It's called secondary glaucoma.  That's what I
have, in one eye.  In my case, it's a fairly recent side effect of
cataract surgery 20+ years ago, so it's not the same thing you have.
But I do know accidents like yours can also cause it.

I can't answer your other questions.  Maybe others here have
experiences more like yours.  You could also seek a second opinion.
