My grandmother had her cataract and glaucoma surgery 20 days ago on her
left eye. Her left eye sight was good for about a week. Then her left
eyesight suddenly became worse. She's been having blurred vision and
seeing doubles. But she is not experiencing any pain or soreness in her
eye. I am so worried about her. We did not get much information from
her Dr. about why this happened. He only said that it there are
built-up fluid again in her left eye and gave her some drops for her
eye. To me it feels like that the glaucoma has come back. Does anyone
know why this happened? Will it get worse? Does she need another
surgery on her left eye? She's supposed to have her cataract/glaucoma
surgery on her right eye on Wednesday. I am not comfortable of her
getting another surgery on her right eye when the left eye surgery did
not produce desired result. Should she put off the second eye surgery?
Please help! I am so worried about her.

When I had cataract and trab surgery last year I had the same problem with
one eye although my vision was blurred immediately after surgery. On my
first follow up visit to the doctor he used a laser to open the bleb
slightly. My vision immediately cleared up and I now see 20/20. It took
about 10 seconds and was completely painless. Your grandmother's problem
may be completely different than mine but you might want to ask her doctor
about this procedure.
