I was diagnosed with open angle Glaucoma in August, a day after my
birthday…yeahhhh. I am now experiencing some of the side effects. I am
having palpations, some neck pains, headaches and my eyes are so red in
the morning that I thought that my eyes were bleeding. Throughout the day
my neck pain goes away but my eyes are red. My co-workers think that I am
high. Has anyone had any of these side effects, if so what did you do?
What are some other side effects that I need to be aware of?

Hello,
I too am in the same boat.. diagnosed with POAG.. and am currently
taking travatan.
I am highly nearsighted too..so I wear contact lenses when I go out.
I've been using Travatan from the last 3 months and I have similar
symptoms as u have describe. Wearing contaacts aggravates the condition
even further..
Is there any way in which this eye redness could be reduced? I dont
want to take any redness reducing drops and screw up my eyes further..

Try http://health.yahoo.com/drug/
click - X-Xg
click - Xalatan
Read all the drug details, you start from there.
Hope it helps.

Gary,
I am not sure so I went to see my doc this AM. He says that some of the
known side effects were longer eye lashes and some discloring of the eye
but since my eyes are brown I should not see any change. Now as of the
redness it may have been some allergy or something however in rare cases
the eyes will become red from using Xalatan. He also stated that Xalatan
was the mildest of the meds. I was told just to "watch" for any other
changes.

Robb,
These are the other changes that I have noticed in these three months
of using
Travatan -
- longer eyelashes
- dark circles under eyes
- dry eyes
Gary.

Gary,
The longer eyelashes are really funny. At work I wear glasses for the
computer and when they first started to reach them it was really strange.
Mine have gotten thicker as well as longer. The dark circles have not
appeared and I hope they won't. Each morning I use some type of lube for
my eyes and that helps.
