Maybe I'm just a cynic.

The recently announced study showing that Xalatan used weekly was as
effective as when used daily makes me wonder whether Pharmacia (the company
that makes it) knew this all along.  That's why the refrigeration, the
caution to use the little 1/4 tsp. you get for your $65.00 within 30 days,
etc.  Recently I got a freebie from my glauc. specialist after complaining
about the cost of the stuff.  It was not refrigerated.  The package said
nothing about that.

If this stuff could be used weekly, the smallest bottle they could make
would have to last six months.  No money in that!

I'm going to go to the middle ground and use it every second night.

I have been using Xalatan for several months alternating eyes each day and
taking a day break from both eyes once a week. Of course, my eye doctor
does not like this but after getting a pressure check after going 2 days
with no Xalatan, there was no increase in pressure from my baseline.
Hence, its effect seems to last at least 3 days.

My pharmacist always seems to make a point of telling me that I don't need
to refrigerate it ... I guess it has a preservative in it?

Interesting.  Are you in a cooler climate?  It's not supposed to be
kept at temps over 77F

I only refrigerated my Xalatan when it was summer (because it got well
over 77F much of the time upstairs where I kept it the rest of the
year).
