> Does anybody know if there is much difference bewteen xalatan and travatan??
Both are in the same family of meds, the prostaglandin analogues, and
both can be very effective at lowering IOP. Travatan is associated
with a higher frequency of red eyes amongst its users. They also tend
to get more pigmentation of the skin around the eyes, as well as
eyelash growth (these may also be seen with Xalatan). Some studies
show Travatan is a little more effective at lowering IOP while others
show they work about the same. I have switched several patients from
Xalatan to Travatan when their IOPs started to climb. About 50%
showed mild improvement while 50% stayed the same.
Hope that helps,

How do they compare to Lumigan, which is what I am presently using.

Very similar...they're all in the same class of drugs...Lumigan often
has the most redness but tends to work the best of the three.

My specialist switched me from travatan to Lumigan and the 1st day of using
it my eye was swollen and bright red and hurt like heck. I went to her
immediately and she took me off it immediately...said I had a reaction to
it. Now the travatan never did that to me. She told me Lumigan is a
stronger med then travatan. Is that true?

some studies don't support that. I feel Lumigan works a bit better,
but it definitely makes eyes redder in many.

I know personally I can not handle xalatan however travatan doesn't bother
me. Seems xalatan causes my eyes to be VERY sore...but travatan doesn't.
