I have ocular hypertension and have been on various eyedrops to  reduce
IOP for about 25 years. Currently I'm on Cosopt and Alphagan P, both
eyes, 2X day.

My glaucoma specialist has commented that a cataract that was noted a
few years ago seems to be gowing more quickly than expected. I wonder if
some of the glaucoma eyedrops can contribute to or accelerate cataracts?

Or, do cataracts just grow at an uneven rate, even exponentially at
times, as my cardiologist suggested?

Many thanks,
Carolyn

No glaucoma drops on the market currently promote the development of
cataracts.  Cataracts can progress at different rates at different
times in your life.

Dr. Cphn,
Thanks for yet another helpful answer. I know I need the drops, but
hated to think they might be causing another problem. I see my glaucoma
specialist Thursday for a visual field and will get info re the status
of the cataract. I don't yet know in what position it is in the eye
(front, middle, back).
Cheers,
Carolyn
