Pressure readings

Through the last 4 years my pressure readings were about 23/24 with no
changes in VF.  I have thick cornea at 645.  Six months ago I had a new
doctor who gave my readings as 32.  And in between I had seen an optometrist
who checked  my pressure on several days and gave the readings at 23.  The
new doctor who tested yesterday still gave me a reading of 32.  How come
this doctor readings are always on the high end compared to all others.
Note the optometrist reading was at 23 as well.  Can Dr. Cohn please
comment?  Is it possible this doc is reading it wrong.  Here is one more
thing, the assistant tested the pressure before the doctor and wrote the
readings at 22 but the doctor repeated it and corrected his assistant.
Everybody used the same instrument. The "blue" tonometer.

Thank you
Nick

Different observers will always come up with different numbers.  The
Goldmann tonometer (small prism on the slit lamp under the blue light)
is the most accurate way to check IOP, but still, different folks will
get different readings.  I would get yet another opinion before
letting someone start me on medications...there is quite a difference
between 23 and 32 (maybe the doc is dyslexic?).
Good luck,
Dr. Cohn
