I was just wondering, has anyone heard of any link or statistical
correlation between IOP and upper respiratory problems (colds,
sinusitis, etc.)?

I caught a mild but persistent cold just before Christmas, and am
still doing battle with my sinuses every morning.  The cold probably
gave way to sinusitis or allergies.  My IOP has also gone up this
year.  It's not the first time I've seen higher IOP when I had a cold,
and I'm wondering if there's an indirect link.

I've begun reading a book on inflammation, wrritten by a doctor.  The
main idea is that inflammation in one part of the body can set off a
chain reaction that can cause a whole range of problems in other parts
of the body.  An example would be the link between gum disease and
heart disease.

I would be interested to know this too --I have chronic sinusitis and
Glaucoma .

I have run across a LOT of information linking allergies (note relationship
to inflamation) with glaucoma.

It is fairly well accepted that food allergies are linked to glaucoma. For
one reference, see the UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND MEDICINE web site:
http://www.umm.edu/altmed/ConsConditions/Glaucomacc.html

For another view, see the following link. I hesitate to post this link here
because I suspect most people in this group are not generally inclined
toward the more "way out" stuff, but with that caveat, here it is:

If you are a skeptic, don't waste your time at the above link.

Having an open mind (as well as open angles) I did visit the wizard site and
didn't find it a waste of time at all. The linked page (more than other pages
on the site)  contained a lot of interesting material.
To evaluate it, a person would have to read very slowly and carefully, take
notes, then see what more conventional sources might have to say on topics of
special interest. There were many thoughts that a person might want to look
into further before drawing a conclusion one way or another. Thanks for
pointing it out.
