Eye Pain

Hello-

I often seem to have mild aching pain in my right eye which seem to go away
when I add a drop of Xalatan.  My doctor said that is probably a coincidence
since eye pressure cannot be "felt".  He checked my eye and could not find
any reason.  Am a little concerned.  Should I worry about this?

Another question, I have eye pressure around 23-24 in both the eyes.  Since
my cornea thickness is around 645 and my visual field is normal for last 4
years since I was diagnosed as a suspect, I dont use Xalatan except in cases
like above.  Any comments here as well?

Thanks very much,
Nick

Yes, Nick, a few.  If your corneal thickness is 645 (normal is about
540 microns), then it would be expected for your IOP to be about 5
points above normal, which is right where yours is.  If your optic
nerve and fields are normal, then I can understand your doc observing
you.  It would be extremely surprising if it was your IOP you were
feeling.  It is likely just to be dryness of the corneal surface.  I
would probably try an artificial tear next time.  Xalatan is not meant
to be used on an "as needed basis."

Thanks a lot doctor for clarifying.  Incidentally I was searching eye pain
in the google and saw this article
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003032.htm. Am assuming
since my pain comes and goes, it is possibly not this.  I will definitely
try the artificial eye drops.

Thanks again

Nick
