mornings after my husband is gone to work. so i am always alone. the last
one i had i took my daughter out of her crib and I DON'T REMEMBER IT!!! i
haven't found anyine that can give me pointers on how to raise my child
and be safe doing it. do you have any suggestions? if you do i would like

Are you taking Anti Seizure pills now, perhaps in Morning and at Night?
If you tell the Doctor that the Morning dose is wearing off from the night
before, they might tell you whether it's better to raise the *Night Dose
(and by how much) *or if your husband were to wake you e.g. 2-3 hours before
you got up, but you took the AM Dose THEN, with Milk, Juice or Food then
went back to bed? that dose might get into your bloodstream before your
Little One wakes up. So you'd keep a balance of the anti-ep seizure levels
in your blood and might also reduce the number of seizures or absences you
could be having.
Are there any *other neighbours with new Pre-schoolers? Maybe if you
explained to them your concern about Morning Absences with your Child they
might be interested in doing a Breakfast "Moms and Tots" club? I'd guess
(without being a Dr. ! ) that the night dose slowly reduces, but in AM
there's a 'trough' where the therapeutic levels you need for control,
temporarily goes below what you need. So the sooner that AM dose can be
started, the less chance of it dropping below what you need?
Last, you didn't mention if you even use any Anti Ep. Drugs, but if
they're *not Time Released types (XR, CR, Retard), there could be a version
like that which can be taken once or twice a day, and because it's slow
release, the pills can be taken plus or minus 2-4 hours of their scheduled
time, without the drop in blood levels that other non-time released types
might have. /G.

Thanks GR for posting this. I read your post, GR, and agree with your
advice. If this lady isn't on meds, she should be because she sure is
placing herself and baby in a risky position. If she is on meds, she
might need reassessment, a change in dosing schedule, or something else.
I bet you a buck she's not getting enough sleep or has poor quality
sleep if she's getting up during the night to care for the baby.
Since we have no idea what this lady knows about epilepsy, what kind of
care she receives, what type of seizures she has, and so on, it is kind
of hard to offer suggestions other than simple things like change or
feed the baby while sitting on the floor, have safety gates up, make
sure the baby can't get outdoors by herself, put locks on cabinets,
turning down the water heater temperature, and all that stuff. You just
have to think about everything a little kid can get into and be prepared
BEFORE it happens. And stuff like maybe using a little table and chair
for the baby instead of the highchair where the baby could get caught in
the straps or stand up and fall out. You know, things like that. Or
maybe always having a little water and dried cereal available at baby
level that the baby can use when mom is zonked out for a couple of hours.
This was kind of short as I have to go back to work. Bet a person could
write a book on all this.

Hi, I was looking through our website and realized there are some good answers
to this question about how a parent with epilepsy can manage their children.
