Hello everyone:
I got home from the hospital yesterday, at last! I have a huge incision
above my right ear which is itching me like mad (the surgeon is taking out
the staples on Thursday)... a fairly severe headache... and my right eye is
not quite in sync with the left one. Apart from those things, I'm feeling
fine and the surgery doesn't seem to have done any damage. :) My memory
seems no worse than before, miraculously enough. (I can remember my friend's
faces, names and phone numbers anyway!) And I've had no seizures since the
day before the surgery, so it's "so far, so good".
Thanks for all your good wishes!
cheers,
Hilary

Welcome home, and welcome back to the newsgroup! I'm delighted to hear
that things went well. I remember the itching and the headache. I also
remember that whatever they gave me for pain made me nauseous. It
turned out that Tylenol worked just fine.
How's your hairstyle? They only shaved my head around the incision.
But that gave me an excuse to buzz my whole head with the help of a
hairdresser friend.
Rest up, and try to eat. Healing burns off more calories than you
think. I lost over ten pounds in those first few weeks, and I really
did think I was eating.

Mine still itches from time to time. From 1993.

Nor is mine. So?

It sounds excellent.

Thanks for letting us know, I hope your recovery continues.
Itching and not being as symmetrical as before is a small price to pay :-)

Hi Hilary, sounds like things went well. Welcome back to the ng. I guess
itching is a good thing because that means
a. you have feeling in your head
b. your skin is healing
Maybe if you scratch your leg or your foot it will make your head feel better -
just a thought and a stupid one at that.
Sorry, I don't have anything helpful to say, I've been remodeling our kitchen,
working like a crazy person and finally the other day I realized this was not
good for me, so I took a break for one night.
Yesterday, my husband stayed home from work to help me. He was in the other
room while I was on the ladder painting. I went to get down from the ladder and
thought I was closer to the floor that I was, so BOOM I fell to the floor. My
husband reacted kind of like her used to react when I had a seizure. He yelled,
like that is going to help me. Here is what I hear while I lay on the floor
wondering if I broke anything.
HEY HEY HEY
This was really loud kind of like he was telling a kid not to touch something.
We laughed about it later. He decided he was reacting like a dog barking. ;-)
He helped me up off the floor, but held onto my wrist which was hurting, and
asked if I needed to go to the hospital. Actually I was not hurt much at all.
I see a small bruise on my arm and my left wrist hurts when I twist it, but its
OK.
Take care,
Julie

Hi Hilary
I've been reading of your surgery and recovery. All the best for your
continuing seizure freedom! The itching will be greatly relieved when
those stitches come out.
