We can .. 'assume' .. then since diazepam .. given to mice by research
scientists .. with a heart .. in order to reduce the PAIN induced by
their induction of iron overload in the mouse .. found those mice given
the diazepam .. .lived ..

One can .. again .. assume .. diazepam .. binds .. iron .. the SAME as
the .. phenobarbitol ..

So since 'they' INDUCE epilepsy in mice BY .. injecting .. iron .. then
one might assume again .. the epilepsy IS induced by .. iron .. in ALL
those who seem to recover when administered these .. drugs ..?

Eh ..

Too hard for ya .. to .. understand .. ? ;)

Man!  That's funny!  Did you just come up with that yourself?   :-)

I think I must have misunderstood something here!

They keep telling us women to put up our iron content to help replace red
blood cells lost in menstruation.

I was first put on diazepam years ago, as I was prone to multiple seizures
in short spaces of time (usually about 5-6 in one day). I was told the
diazepam was just to try and stop a second or third appearing as this
could get dangerous.

However, I've never been told that my seizures could have anything to do
with my iron supplements, or any iron toxicity of another kind.

Is there anywhere I could get any confirmation of this, as I've now
become very curious as to whether I ought to stop taking these supplements
or not.

PS. Also a vegetarian.

Sounds like you are talking about  hemochromatosis, which is also known as
iron storage disease.  There is a bunch of information through google on this
condition.

Sofia ,

It is manys oppinion that the Tom-Iron is obsessed with blood-iron.

Thanks for the diazepam info though as I sent it to a friend who has a
beautiful kind natured germain shepard that had 6 seizures yesterday,
despite being on maximum dose phenobarbitol for at least 9 months.

Thank you !

Well . a study out of Europe found over fifty percent of the working
dogs tested have .. siderosis ..

Working dogs in Europe I suppose just might have a higher percentage
who ARE .. shepherds .. ?

Coincidentally .. German Shepherds have a VERY high propensity to hip
dysplasia .. and tend to die .. early ..

THAT seems to be quite similar to those .. people .. who have iron
overload .. arthritis / death early ..

Dogs aren't shepherds, humans are.

Evidence?

Real, peer reviewed evidence please.

Recently doctors have begun to .. understand .. the 'workings' of ..
women.

It seems just because you .. bleed .. doesn't mean you are .. bleeding
to death.

The theory going around is that in order to keep the body safe .. low
iron .. low oxidation / rust for the safe gestation of an egg .. women
have evolved a . method .. TO .. keep the iron levels .. low.

The 'genetic' form of iron excess has been traced originally to those
people of Celtic heritage and Northern European.

They have now found a mutation in the Mediterranians and are actively
searching for one in the Africans .. because .. iron levels THERE ..
are .. high.

Anemia in India has been shown to be much better / easily 'treated' by
ramping up the vitamin C .. much better / easier than giving iron
supplements.

Evidence? Peer reviewed of course.

Howdy Mary!

One of us has been hanging around the other for too long...

All this demanding of hard evidence for outragious claims is turning into a
VERY BAD HABIT!

I think THEY call it: "scientific method toxicity syndrome"!  :D

Oh NO!

I didn't realise it was a contagious condition!

(I wish)

I'm on my knees ... I apologise in humble profusion ...

Obviously I shouldn't have eaten that hare's liver, it's boosted my iron
content.

Or perhaps it was the garden fork I thrust through my foot ...

Or perhaps it's because I don't bleed any more and am accumulating all that
dreadful poison ...

Whatever it was I'm delighted to hear from you again :-)))

No, dear, yours, because you're wasting your time. If you can't convince
people why bother ... Find another hobby.

Heh .. heh ..

See the thread .. ?

It has nothing to do about .. ME ..

I asked a question .. and YOU seem to take offense somewhere along the

They are both sedatives, anxiolytics and muscle relaxers, but diazapam
works on the GABA-A /BZD receptor and barbiturates work on an
allosteric binding site in the same neurons, opening chloride channels
and hypopolarizing the neuron.

Even though they both have similar outward effects, barbs are
infinitely more deadly than benzos. And phenobarb sucks. The best barbs
are pentobarbital, secobarbital and amybarbital (also the combo product
Tuinal). But they are hard to come by. I had a Nembutal script for
about a year, but my doctor took it away one time when I came in there
"overmedicated"

If it were only easy to convert the pheno to the nembu.
