Did any of the med. doses get changed recently? I only had the blurred
vision 1-2x as we slowly increased my Tegretol CR dose about 1995-6. The
problem cleared each time within 2-3 days at that dose level.
I've never used Lamictal.
Are you taking the Tegretol w. Milk, Juice (* Not Grapefruit -- it
conflicts w. tegretol), or Food? That would help it digest and absorb in
the timeframes you listed above and then the 2nd med. would (I'd expect be
moving along well after the original pills were metabolized. But then I'm
not a Dr. Is your Pharmacist nearby? They have the Scripts etc. that the
Manufacturers send out and have more time to look through them or read them
for you, or might have a www address you could refer to also. G./

I did some more looking around and I read somewhere that claritin
increases the amount of tegretol in the blood quite sigficantly. But I
will know more this afternoon. Oh.. I do take soymilk now and then, but
have never had a problem with it. No grapefruit. I always take it with
food in the mornings, after lunch, and dinnertime.
Side note, I was given a computer game as a gift this weekend that I was
sure was way to much for my system. And it was. The frame rate was very
slow. About 1 1/2 - 2 hrs later I had a small partial (couldnt read) but
was still lucid. Ive had problems with low refresh rates in the past.
So thats another thing for everyone to watch out for. A big game on a
computer that cant handle it will be a problem because it overrides
whatever refresh setting that is used normally.

Well, back from neuro and she never heard of an interaction between
claritin and tegretol. But... I just looked on the drug companies website
(dunno why I didnt before) and they list the generic name (Loratadine) as
one of the interactions that does increase levels in the blood.
Hi Theo
I am a tegretol user 800mgs/day and in the Summer I was taking Claritin for
allergys and I actually had a seizure..
I had the same thing happen the year before in the Summer and finally
looked into as I am good all year..Then realized hat claritin does interfere
with tegretol by interferring in the absorption ...so you can either spike
in dosage or dive...
I stopped taking it ..and just suffer the allergys for now..But I will
check with my pharmacist..I suggest you do the same..Most pharmacist will
have to look interactions up and do some research....
Cheers.

the manufacturer lists the generic name of it as one that increases it.
