Hi there,

Im Sara, and I thought I would join this newsgroup. My son just turned a
year old a couple of weeks ago, and we found out several weeks ago, that he
has a Hypothalamus Hamartoma in his brain, which causes epileptic seizures ,
galastic seizures.  We have met with a Neurosurgeon at Sick Kids in Toronto
(which is 1500 Miles away) and he has just referred us to another
neurosurgeon in our city that he personally knows. We go in this week to
meet his new neurosurgeon, where we will be talking about an EEG, a repeat
MRI that will show more indepth information, and talk about different
medications to start our son on.

I thought Id just introduce myself!

Take care, and Happy Holidays!

Sara, welcome to the group no-one wants to join!

Stick around, you'll be able to contribute. There might even be someone who
can tell you something.

I'm off to Wales soon, I look forward to hearing about the results of your
appointment when I get back.

In the meantime, Happy Christmas!

Mary

Hi Sara, welcome to the ng.  I hope the neurologist can help your son and your
family to maintain his epilepsy and we will all try to help you in coping with
the disorder I like to refer to as "if only I had a brain"  - you see sometimes
I can't remember things.  But then I am getting older and I think someone around
here is hiding the chocolates from me.  We like to share chocolates with
newbies, so just imagine that I am sharing your favorite with you. ;-)

Take care,
Julie Walton, Volunteer Webmaster

Bookmark Julie's Idaho website if you have that option.  There are
first aid and other things plus link to us efa.org site that has a
medications glossary.
Are you near a larger city that has a local ep. chapter? They might
have a website too -either sick kids or Toronto Ep. have one. I can
look up from my newsletters for you (free) if you can't find it on
search option.(There might be an 800 no. in your local phone book).  I
don't know how much they have wrt. kids, but they've been adding to it
over last 3+ years so it should be getting more useful.    Post if you
want more (my eml is broken for now -- not always a bad thing, but I
have kids I'd like to write, esp. this time of year -- my Thanks to
monseignor gates for this-- I have a gift for him when he's next in
town.)   :-<  G./

Hi Sara,

I too, am new here and just posted for the very first time.
I wish I had some advice for you, but I am still learning here also.
I wanted to tell you that I will keep you and your son in my thoughts.

Happy Holidays to you!!
