Seizures on a schedule?

About a year and bit ago I was diagnosed with both grand and petit mal
seizures. In the past couple of months my whole body shakes(according
to my gf) at 6:3ish most day. The reason she has noticed is probably
due to the time change. She was usually out of the house before 7:3x.
Odds are this has been going on alot longer. Prior to this, when I
woke in the morning my entire body would have muscle  stiffness. Like
exherting too much the day prior. I assummed this was what was
happening. Though prior to diagnoses my body would shake after I had
collasped. Thankfully with no injures were aquired other than a
wounded pride from loss of bladder control. This partly where my
question lies. I don't lose control of my bladder, I just shake,
rather violently according to my girlfriend. I almost never have
petit's anymore, least not during the day. Same goes for the grand
mals. They were usually limited to twitching in my right arm and leg.
I am currently on Dilantin 300mg a day. My levels are too high beyond
that. I really don't know what to make of all this. Any advice,
questions, help would be kindly appreciated.

Paul.

ps. Is there a site which shows the brain in great detail to
understand exactly what part does what? More detailed than just
showing where the brain stem and so is. Cheerio

Howdy Paul!

Sounds like night seizures to me! (This is happening while you're asleep,
right?)

I had a roommate at college and you could set your watch by his night
seizures.

*** You're probably stiffening or twisting your muscles during the night
(poss. during a Simple Partial or Petit Mal?) without waking up. I used to
have cramps about 1x a week before we adjusted my Night pill slightly.   Are
you spreading the Dilantin dose to AM and night time (so it's stable over
the 24 hours)?  It's not uncommon for some of the Anti Ep Drugs to wear off
during the night if the blood levels drop off during that period.
**I'm not a Doctor, and was only able to use Dilantin for Complex Partial
seizures for about 6 months, then had to change, as it gave *me erratic
control  (moreso than you appear to have so far).    Also most of the 'dream
states'  I still have I only remember Late in the night (so I might be
waking up then) -- you could be moving to a Less Deep sleep level while
she's up and getting ready for work.
(I do that because the Hot Water heater 'autoheats' the water before my
wife gets up and I hear the Electro-Clicker on the Gas Igniter sparking
about 20 minutes before she actually gets up, OR I react to the aroma of
Eggs or Bacon or ?? that is transmitted through the house because our Air
Fan runs 24/7 to balance house temperature.)  /

*** My guess would be in your last sentence.  Usually the Bladder thing
happens with a Grand Mal or Complex Partial that's not controlled fully.
Simple Partials (include Auras if any during the day), don't often result in
either collapse or the Bladder thing.   Our Guards tend to be lower during
sleep phases so Bladder thing (you don't have now) and Cramps and Petits
(you have now possibly),  may occur easier then.
Your Dr. (if you asked) might keep the Same dose but, e.g. *up the Night
Dose and *reduce the AM dose so you're still at the same 24-hour mgs., but
the higher dose would keep your blood levels secure all night. /

Same goes for the grand
> mals. They were usually limited to twitching in my right arm and leg.
*** If you're not collapsing but just Twitching? those might now be covered
under Simple Partial symptoms?
Howdy Dave has a site (at end of his posts)  with links to Ep. Foundation
and other sites wrt. epilepsy and treatments.   Julie Walton posts
frequently (not frequenty enough ! :-<  ) but lists her Idaho Website at end
of her posts.
Both those have up to date information they have gathered for us and
others.   They also link to Ep. Foundation of America or try http://efa.org
as the entrance (I think that's one doorway).    If that's one that has a
Search blank at top,  type either Petit Mal or Simple Partial and click the
tab (GO or Search -- whatever it's called)  will take you to information
they have.   It also has a Medications Glossary you could look at anything
it has to say about Dilantin (the latter has been in use since about 1930,
but is cheaper as a First line med. for those who can use it).

Not that I've seen recently -- there may be one via that efa site.  If you
have a Library nearby, about 2001? or 2 there was a Full Issue of Scientific
America on 'The Brain'.  I think National Geographic did one too more
recently.   The Sc. America one (if you're rifling through the pile of
archives) has a COVER Picture of a 'Green Brain'  that's a photo of what one
of the Diagnostics Tests produced as a 3D image of someone with Alzheimer's?
or similar.   While there may only be a few references to Ep., I think there
are EEGs and some parts referring to seizures, too.   G. /
