My doctor is switching me from Dilantin to Trileptal.  I just started
today.

I was wondering if anyone has done this, and if so, what kind of side
effects it had on them, if any.  I am really afraid I am going to be a
zombie in work.  I will be on both meds at least 4 weeks before I begin
being weaned off the Dilantin.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mary

I haven't had experience with Trileptal but am curious about the switch.  Is
it for liver or gum overgrowth problems?  I've been taking 500mg Dilantin
for past 16 months and noticed moderate gum overgrowth.

My doc also suggested this switch because Dilantin can reduce bone density.
But since I am doing well on Dilantin I opted for a bone density test and
the
results were excellent, so no more was said about switching. BTW, I've
been on Dilantin (260mg) for 12 years and my gums are doing good.

I'd also be interested in hearing about anyone that has switched and why.
