Good morning.
After many frank discussions with my neurologist, he suggested felbamate or
felbatol.  I have an AVM in right temporal region.  Right now I have the VNS
implant, take depakote, tegretol and zonegran.  The doctor would have to do
a study of my drugs to stir around in my cocktail when adding the felbamate.
Has anyone had dealings with the drug? Or using is now?
After reading the literature the doctor gave me, I am a little apprehensive.

Thanks

I read most everyday......thanks for being here.

Jean I was on Felbamate back in 1993-94 and was not good for me at all.  But
what works for one might work for another.  I had very serious side effects, my
liver was beginning ot fail, and such severe weight loss.  I lsot about 45 lbs
in 4 months.  The cocktail youa r eon right may need tweaking, your
neurologist, fo they specialize in jsut Epilepsy or neurlogy all around?  Jsut
curious.  Good luck with this, Ann

I have a client who has been on Felbate/Felbatol for the past
8 years and has done extremely well (just completed medical school).
Most neurologists I know won't prescribe it due to the deaths that
were associated with it; however, a number of people reported to me
that it controlled their seizures and they felt great while taking it.

I'm sure your neurologist will talk with you about routine blood work to
monitor how you're doing.

Regards
Michael
