Complex Partial (Left Temporal) - Trigger?

G'day to all on the groups. I'm looking for anyone with experience
common to mine.

I was diagnosed 14 years ago with "Atypical Partial Complex (Left
Temporal). Seizures are well controlled by medication (Phenytoin),
until the weather gets hot :-(

When it's over 28°C (82F), all I want to do is sleep. Blood sugar
levels go crazy (11mmol/l to 5.1mmol/l in a few minutes!). Body
temperature remains normal, or below normal (35.8°C), but skin becomes
hot and flushed - OR icy cold to touch! Pupils contract to pin-pricks,
and I also become belligerent, and unable to keep track of what people
are saying to me - although I am aware of what's going on, and can't
respond coherently. I become very weak, and sometimes unable to stand
(although by this point, I'm usually laying down anyway!). On more
than one occasion, medical professionals in attendance have had cause
to call an ambulance for me - but on arrival at hospital, they can
find nothing wrong.

Are these "seizures", in legal or medical terms? I can best describe
the feeling as that of being very drunk! Onset is NEVER sudden -
always gradual (over a few hours or days).

Howdy MatSav!

If your blood sugar goes crazy it sounds as if it could be high/low sugar
reactions.

Since you can test your glucose levels I assume that you or somebody in your
family has diabetes.

Discuss it with all of  your doctors (regular physician,
neurologist/epileptologist, endocrinologist) -- at least make them aware of
the fact!

BTW: I have epilepsy AND diabetes.

I don't get the problem with the weather but yeah, pupils contracting, can't
keep track of what's being said but I know what's going on, no strength same
deal........anyway, I'm told there petit mals or maybe there's a new name of
complex partial now!  But, some good news is although I'm on meds (lamictal
& topomax I have grand mals as well) i also have been following a glucose
index diet. Originally thought to help only ppl with diabetes its now known
to aid a tonne of different condition - plus just be good for you. It's just
a healthy lifestyle eating not much different than how I did anyway just a
few things...I now keep my blood sugars alot more level and it seems that I
have a lot less fits (both kinds & I'm not well controlled even on
medications!) So this maybe worthwhile looking at?
Good Luck
