So is anyone willing to describe their brand of medication taken for the
kind of seizure(s) you are experiencing?
I am taking dilantin and topirimate which the dr said was the maximum
med for my seizures.

Do the meds work 100 percent for you or just help lessen the intensity??
What's some of your seizures feel like?

Like today , I just got an intense sweaty feeling, with a
light-headedness like I could faint any second, but didn't. I was just
standing at the counter at the time. I am assuming that this was a
seizure of some type. Seems like it lasted two or three minutes or so.

I have had gm's and am experiencing partials still. The gm's are a few
months apart so I am not sure the med works or not for that, but know it
isn't working for the partials. I have heard of other names of
medication but am new to this epilepsy stuff (again probably :) ) and
would like some more info before I go back to my scheduled dr's visit in
January.
                     thanks

No and Yes

> What's some of your seizures feel like?

When the partials are bad, an inability to understand anyone talking (in
person, on tv, or on the radio), talk back to them, or read.

When they arent bad, they are similar, but just 'there' in the sense that I
only have to focus a little more, and pass very quickly.

There are several kinds of meds, dilantin is often the first used. Was on
it for years, got off it, have been on tegretol for years (then keppra
added), am in the process of getting off keppra, then probably the
tegretol. Replacement is lamictal. So far it isnt %100 either. But as more
of the old stuff is decreased (or eliminated) the new stuff will probably
go up.

 Hi,
Be careful with Lamactil, I had it a couple of years ago and it
had unpleasant side effects loss of sleep ,couldnt wait to get off
it,now I am on tegretol.dilantin and nuerontin.

one problem Ive had for years it too much sleep. couldnt get up in the
mornings. a bit better now, mostly becuase Im programmed to take my
morning pills when I didnt have to before (I have crazy hours anyway).

One thing about Lamictal I didnt realize what that its very expensive.
While building up slowly Ive been on those packets. I wanted to get off
Keppra because its also expensive, but wasnt working well. (I said this
to the neuro) Now Im on both for the time being, a double whammy. Im not
sure what to do yet because its getting unaffordable, and the plan is to
increase Lamictal even more.

*G* Some countries (don't know if your's is one), I had heard that Some of
the Manufacturers made arrangements where people couldn't always afford
their newer pills, to provide them at *discount or cheaper through the
Doctor?  You could ask your Doctor if something like that was available
where you are OR through your local Epilepsy  Association.
Not all the Manufacturers do that, in All the countries, but it's worth a
try.     G./
