I was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy about 13 years ago, more
recently I have had to have a hysterectomy (age 44, which i believe is
quite young) I have also developed a problem with an underactive
thyroid. Some where inbetween I also developed an unusual form of
psoriosis together with voice ( or lack of it) problems and hip joint
problems.........

I don't know if these are related to the epilepsy, the drugs
(carbamezapine) or if I just got lucky !!!!

I had read that the drugs can cause hormonal problems 'over a
prolonged period' and wondered if that was the common link between the
hysterectomy and the thyroid problem. I am finding it difficult to
find any info........ so does anyone know of any site or has any
similar experiences?

THANKS

If you still have some of the options you tried with a Google search,  try
similar searches a second time but put in Complex Partial Seizures instead
of Temporal Lobe with whatever else you were searching on.   T.L. Ep. is an
older term (used mainly since, with them, a seizure starts in one of the
Temporal Lobes) and was used up to 1960s or 70s?.
That type is now grouped on many sites under Complex Partial Seizures.
Let us know if that works or doesn't.  Others after the weekend might have
other ideas.
I've used Tegretol (Carbamazepine) since about 1995, but am the wrong
gender to comment on other parts of question.   Did you Pharmacist not give
you a printout of possible side effects or things to watch for when the
prescription was filled the first time?   Perhaps they have information they
can print for you now, that might be different from what was known about
Tegretol 13 years ago.   Or they might have a website address for the
manufacturer, although that would only contain Public Released information
they had, not necessarily as detailed as the Doctor or Pharmacist might
receive.
You could try a Medications Search under the Glossary inside
http://efa.org   the U.S. Ep. Foundation Website.  I had regular Bloodwork
the first 2 years I used Tegretol but thought they were looking at Calcium
levels to see if it was affecting that (some people it does), plus Blood
Levels of the Med. as we increased the dose to my target level.  G./

Howdy!

On general principles I would say "Probably not"

Then again... I'm not a doctor.

Since my epilepsy was diagnosed, I've also been diagnosed with several other
conditions.

In my case, it's coincidence, not cause and effect.
