I have had epilepsy since 1969.  I have taken a lot of different
combinations of medicine.  Tegretol, Dilantin.  are two.  All the
different combinations never really worked well.  My new doctor started
me on the combination of Lamictal and Keppra.  For a long time it was
working but the dosage had to start going up.  I was starting to take 9
Lamictal and 3 Keppra to keep my seizures under control.  I was starting
to overdose so the doctor had to find another remedy..He told me about
VNS which had been available for 3 years. He told me it was a gamble but
that it might work.  So I had an implant in 2001. With this and the
reduction of my medicine, (I now take 5 lamictal and 2 keppra)  my
seizures  are in better control.  After all these years I'm finally
getting somewhere.  The VNS unit has been a blessing to me.   I'm a lot
happier now.

Does anyone else use the VNS and does it help you as it is helping me?

Hi  Pauline.
I have had no physical problems with my medicine.  I've been lucky so
far.  I have taken a lot of different medicines and I didn't seem to
have to many side effects from them.  I guess my body was able to accept
them.  Sure thing Pauline that would be nice to talk to someone.

Howdy Christine!

Would you care to submit your story for inclusion in the "What other VNS
patients have to say" section of my VNS site?

Howdy Christine!

Just write it out (text format) and e-mail it to me at the e-mail address
listed at the top of my VNS page.

I post stories just the way I get them (do your own spell-checking.)
