Greetings, JR,
I had surgery in July 1999 to remove part of my right temporal lobe
including a benign tumor. My simple and complex partial seizures ended
immediately.  I still take a small dose of dilantin (phenytoin). I had a
grand mal two years after the surgery, shortly after I had weaned off
the dilantin completely, so I resumed taking it.  My short-term memory
remains poor, but I had no other consequences.
Best wishes,
Liz

Hey JR,
I was diagnosed with epil at 8 months old due to meningitis and
ensphilitis, am 41 now. My seizures were Complex partial with
secondary generlized.
In 1999 I had the right hippocampus removed.
Yes, I am still on meds, doubt I'll ever get off of Tegratol, been on
it since 1976. :}}}
I was having about 1200 seizures a year before the surgery, compared
to now that it is 1 seizure a year.

Hope this helps.

Chris
