Epilepsy and sex?

Hi Guys & Gals;

Well I know that this might be an odd question, but I want to date a
woman who has epilepsy, and while she is on medication she does have
seziures if she is woken up quickly, if she does not get her sleep or
if she dosen't get enough sleep. I don't want to ask her my questions
becouse I would like to learn all the relevent information before I
ask her out, and if I shouldn't ask her out I would like to know this
before starting anything (and just remain co-workers).

What about epilepsy and sex, what should I know and are there any
sites on the internet that I should visit?

I know that this might be a sensitive subject, but any help would be
greatly apprecated

Glenn

Howdy Glenn!

From the information that you've given us, I just have one warning:

MAKE SURE YOUR SEX DOESN'T PUT HER TO SLEEP!!!!!

Epilepsy has absolutely nothing to do with sex!

Sort of like asking a person if eating chocolate causes any medical trauma
due to the fact that they are color-blind!

Dunno about that Dave. I've had seizures DURING sex a couple of times and it
makes it quite umm, "interesting". I'm fortunate in that I usually remain
aware during my seizures and get to enjoy the full "benefits".

One thing that can happen during sex which can bring on a seizure is
hyperventilation (breathing rapidly).  Usually, however, if the
patient with the seizure disorder is well-medicated, this will not
happen.

Generally, epilepsy and sexual activity are not related.

Best,

Bob

Eeeeeek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My son hyperventilates frequently and ends up with a fit/seizure :((  We
*think* it's attention seeking behaviour *but* it's not the sort that can
be ignored like most such behaviour in order to get it to stop.

He's also autistic, so we've no idea whether he fully understands what we
say to him about not doing the "silly breathing".

Hi Glenn,

Some medications do affect a persons sex drive, but it's us stupid men that
mainly have that problem.

That is so not true. It's not as obvious with women, but trust me, it's
every bit as frustrating.

They can absolutely negate libido.

With the advent of Viagra et al, it is now possible to have the 'way', but
not the 'will'...or, perhaps the 'willy', but not the...er...

Some of the sites also listed a Sharp rise in Sudden Death from self
prescribing that junk that's for sale all over the internet.  Something the

Howdy Dr. Bob!

Aahhh.....

The mystery MD does have a face after all...

(Hope you didn't strike me off of your list because of my horrific reactions
to occasional situations that pop up every now and then.)

Just make sure she gets enough sleep - no all-night marathons if she has to
get up and work the next day!

One thing I've noticed with my treatment is priapism (sp).  I tend to last
for a longer than average time and I've attributed it to my medications...my
gf never has complaints though...
