I may be wrong but normally a doctor / neurologist should prescribe you
something based on your specific situation (EEG/MRI/CT, etc., etc.). He/She
should know about the side effects, etc.

Maybe some others can help you a little bit more then I can?

Take care.

 Hi Renee,
This is a hard one - really too complex for us "amateurs-:) - as we are not familiar with ALL the side effects of these AEDs.
I currently take 4 different drugs per day and feel quite confident about Keppra; though I know that it can have unpleasant side effects for some people.
It also depends on the success of your surgery. I have had 4 ops and none has had the desired result.
I am therefore left with refractory epilepsy.I would imagine, tho' that if your doctor said "your choice" that you had an excellent outcome:)

Remember, the drugs depend on your body mass index, perhaps you could confer with a specialist in this area? Perhaps your GP or a pharmacist may be of help. However, I have taken Lamictal but did not notice the effect you have mentioned - but then - I am a man and it may not seem as evident to me?
Have you taken Dilantin without adverse effects? This is usually where doctors start when treating epilepsy in Australia and may be an appropriate choice?
 Good luck
            with your recovery,
                               all the best, Rich.
