Wonder what Mary's up to in Halifax.  Hey, I'm green with envy.

I was at Shibden Hall, on a glorious weekend when I could have been in my
garden or in Oban with internet friends or making stock for next weekend (at
Traquair). Or talking to you lot on the ng.

Instead I was standing doing nothing most of the time. Made new friends,
spent yesterday evening drinking wine in evening sun on the terrace while
looking over the Calder Valley then having a delightful meal with my
publisher and his wife and son and Spouse) then back to Shibden today to do
the same as yesterday with even less reward.

Don't be envious. Apart from last night it was dire - a disaster for
everyone.

And you weren't even talking about me so I've no gossip to read :-(

Maybe, but at least we got the 'Mary - ASE's answer to the Enigma
Machine' thread deleted off the news-servers in time!

Howdy Mary!

Here I thought that you were from York.

As somebody totally ignorant of the language, that almost looks like Welch
to me!

Not Welsh - I was just proving that you hadn't cracked all the codes.

I'm not from York, I'm from Yorkshire. Not even from, still here ...

Malcolm, you must be more gentle with people like Howdy Dave. He's a

:-)

Howdy Mary!

NO I'M NOT!!!! (Well... maybe I am, but my c*l*n**l  status goes back to
1620 when folks were on the boat before there even WAS a c*l*n*!

Besides... I've got roots that have been traced all the way back to 1066!

Dave, Darling, at your age that's what I'd expect :-)

But in fact, we all have such roots, whether traceable or not.

Just for interest, which side were you on in 1066?

:-)

and were pollarded regularly thereafter.

Apart from those of us who trace our ancestry back to the primaeval soup
(doesn't my spellcheck do dipthongs?).
