Is anyone on trileptal? If so , what side effects have you noticed bad and
good? Do this one have a reputation(sp?) of being good or bad?

sorry I am so full of questions.I have read all the sheets on it but i'm
interested in personal feelings.

I've been on Trileptal for about 2 months.  So far I haven't noticed any
side effects.  I seem less absent-minded on this than on Dilantin or
Lamictal.
I am also curious what others have to say about it.  You don't see much on
here about Trileptal.

Hi, I'm on Trileptal(oxcarbazepine) as well... I realy don't know anything
about for example: 'a bad reputation'. I've been on lots of medication, from
depacine to tegretol, dyphantuine, lamictal etc etc etc, a lot of good
reputations. Well, they made me sick, depressed or something like that. The
most important thing is: Is has to work by you. I haven't noticed a main
progression by trileptal (I still have absances) but however it doesn't make
me sick.

By the way, I've also been on a combination of trileptal/neurontin.
Anyone experiances?

And for piper whos feeling sorry asking questions, Your doctor should
feeling sorry not answering your questions. (if you did ask them)
My experiance with serval doctors is like a story of walking in a
supermarket. A supermarket? Yes! 'Dear customer, you can try this, or you
can try that, without giving a good advise or suggestions. They just try.
It's a pitty, but it's true. In the other hand, sometimes it's nothing more
than a doctor can do. It's your job giving him the best information you can.
And if he doesn't answer your questions, repeat them.

Greez,

pieter

Hello Pieter,

Are you from The Netherlands as I noticed your (Dutch) nickname "1e
verdieping" (which is translated in English as "first floor".

Funny nickname :-)

Hi
Since I take trileptal I noticed that I have more problems of
concentration. Currently I have a rather heavy treatment: I take of
Keppra (2*1500mg per day) and I replace Epitomax by Trileptal. I
noticed problems of concentration: I must write my way, make sound my
watch, plan my work... I forget certain things. But it is difficult to
make the right share of the things between what is due to the
treatment and what is due to the after-effects of the
meningoencephalitis I had 10 years ago. Moreover I do not feel all my
crises. I feel only the "simple" partial crises: I feel unpleasant
feelings of anguish, and a rise of adrenalin. I do not perceive my
"complexe" partial crises (absences): it is necessary that it is
somebody who sees the crisis and his symptoms and says to me: "JR you
made a crisis".

I have been on trileptal for about 1 and a half years. I am not diagnosed
as being bipolar. I am currently on 150 milligrams of generic wellbutrin.
I am currently on 1200 milligrams of trileptal. Trileptal has made me a
completly different person but in a bad way. I have been angry, violent,
and I do not know who I am anymore. Not only did it make me this way I
feel dizzy and tiared after taking trileptal for about an hour. A few
weeks ago I tried to get off of trileptal because I learned that trileptal
is used for biopolar disorders and of course seizures. I have also learned
that it has also done a number on other people. I was off of the 1200 for
two days and on the second day for supper I could not eat, and I like my
food very much. I almost fainted and I also felt extremly hot. I have
never felt that bad before. As soon as I took it I felt better. Now I am
trying to go off of it over a few weeks and I will update what happens.
Hopefully everything goes well.

Hi,
Great to see you are acquainted with your meds and their uses; but don't be afraid because a drug is used for more than one illness. Lots of these AEDs are.
Offhand, it sounds like you are suffering toxic side effects, but which drug?
You must tell your doctor what is happening and ask him to test your drug blood levels. If he will not go to someone who will!
You are in "need of being watched".
This just involves how much of each drug you are absorbing and correcting the dose:) 1200mgs. is a lot of any drug, but don't automatically blame Trileptal just because you heard it is used for bi-polar disorder. Do people with that illness blame epileptics for their troubles????????
keep on keeping on:) Rich.
