My first PC game!

In many years of computing, I have never been into PC games, preferring
to write programs, so every time I upgraded my PC I always deleted the
games file (and renamed the machine from that silly "My Computer").

But there was one game I couldn't resist buying, it arrived this
morning, and commendably the first thing in the manual after the
contents is a warning about epilepsy. However, it contains the following
sentence which really made me smile:

"Stop playing and consult a doctor immediately if you or your child
experience any of the following symptoms: dizziness, vision problems,
eye or muscle spasms, loss of consciousness, disorientation, involuntary
movement or convulsion."

Now I know I've done some weird things in my complex partials, but is it
really possible to get so addicted to PC games that you can carry on
playing whilst unconscious, or having convulsions? Or if your child
dropped down unconscious and went into a seizure, would you be so
obsessed as to carry on playing?  :)

And if you're unconscious, how can you consult your doctor? (I wouldn't
go near mine anyway, he'd wire me up to the National Grid).

I know they are only covering themselves, and as I say, I think it's
commendable. But it doesn't stop it being funny as well.

I've never played games either, after the first few minutes, and I've
deleted anything which came with the pc. My 'My computer' was re-named
'Mike' years ago.

I suspect that some people might ...

LOL!

So what's the game?

>So what's the game?

The game is called "Let's install DirectX v9.0b onto a computer with a
Voodoo 3000, and then wonder why the system clogs up, runs at half-
speed, freezes during booting up, and then won't even *switch on* :("

A second game called "Oh bugger, I have legal, medical, financial and
work files on those hard drives. Did I make a start-up disc, where is
the CD and is my garage really still in such a mess so long after
moving? At least clambering over all these boxes is good exercise" came
free with the first.

But a new game I've got, called "Whooppee, I got the switch going! My
miniscule Vaio laptop still works, so can I make a start-up floppy from
a different Windows version, use it to boot up the desktop, then reload
all of W98SE once the CD-ROM is mounted and keep the registry?" has
proved great fun to play, and as you see, works well on my machine
without any additional drivers.

If you score over 1 on this last game you get three free programs:

1) Wow do I feel SMUG.

2) Let us sit back and praise the Lord for MS-DOS.

3) Anybody want to buy a copy of "Virtual Skipper3" ? My graphics card
can't run it.

Yes ... and ... ?

Oh - I suspect we've all played that ...

You didn't mention the loft ...

Do you mean minuscule?

(as in minute)

I'm lost.

Super.

I've never scored more than 1 on any game. That's why I don't play computer
games.

I don't know, do you feel smug?

Hallelujah!

No.

Sorry, mate, but it was nice while it lasted :-)

What, the peace and quiet whilst I was off-line for three days with my
machines in bits on the floor? :)

No, your description of the 'games' - I was apologising for not taking you
up on your offer.

And I was drunk ...

Mary :-)
